Feldûnost
Species more commonly known as Aurounian Mountain Goats.
This goat species, originally named by giants, is by far the largest species of goats in Eronus. Capable of becoming up to 1,6 meters tall and 2 meters long, adept at climbing even the steepest mountain sides in a sprint and with the ability to jump up to 20 meters in one bound, the goats are one of the most agile species living in the mountains.

Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
A subcategory of the species is the Dûr'Feldûnost, which are slightly bigger but with much bigger horns. Seemingly they can be the offspring of two normal Feldûnost, but they do not seem to mate themselves.
Ecology and Habitats
The goats live in the low-mid heights of The Ridge, they have been seen as far south as Morndin.
Dietary Needs and Habits
The goats live of the sparse but rich plantlife in the valleys between mountains.
They travel in large flocks, the largest seen being multiple hundred goats in one flock. Each flock will have a few Dûr'Feldûnost, even bigger and with proportionally larger horns. These can both be female and male, but will always be protectors of the herd.

Additional Information
Domestication
The large quantity of Feldünost is due to their domestication by the giants, who used them both for pulling their tools and for their nutritional value. Since the near extinction of giants, most goats roam around freely.
Civilization and Culture
Common Myths and Legends
By some, the goats are rumoured to be the reincarnations of those who die in the mountains. It is the tribute paid by the mountains to those brave enough to climb them, to be reborn as these noble creatures so well suited for mountain climbing. The same myth says that the noblest of adventures are reborn as Dûr'Feldûnost, to reign their own herds in their afterlife.
