Shropine

Mother Shropine Moonflower (a.k.a. The All Mother)

Origin as an Elf

In the verdant forests of Cinder, where the ancient trees whispered secrets of the world, a young elf named Shropine was born. She was a child of the soil, her heart beating in rhythm with the earth's pulse. From an early age, Shropine exhibited a profound connection to nature. She could coax the smallest seeds to sprout in her hands and converse with the oldest oaks. Her people revered her as a gifted druid, but Shropine saw herself as a humble servant of the earth, striving to learn its mysteries.

The Great Blight

One fateful year, a terrible blight swept across Cinder. Crops withered, and forests shrank as a dark curse gnawed at the land. The elves were stricken with hunger, and their once-thriving communities faced despair. It was whispered that a malevolent force from the underworld had unleashed this curse, seeking to bring the proud elves to their knees.   Shropine, driven by her love for the land and her people, sought a way to save them. She journeyed deep into the heart of Cinder, where the lines between the physical world and the spirit realm blurred. After days of travel, she arrived at the Sacred Grove, a place said to be the cradle of all life. There, she meditated for thirty days and thirty nights, communing with the spirits of nature and sustaining herself on the link she shared with the Sacred Grove.   On the thirtieth night, the spirit of an ancient tree revealed to her the source of the blight: an ancient relic buried deep within the earth, cursed by a forgotten deity. To cleanse the land, Shropine would have to destroy the relic, but doing so required a great sacrifice—her own life force would be needed to purify it.

The Sacrifice and Ascension

Without hesitation, Shropine accepted her fate. She ventured into the earth's depths, following the roots of the Sacred Grove until she reached a hidden cavern. There, she found the cursed relic, pulsing with dark energy. Shropine called upon all her strength, channeling the life force of the land into herself, and then into the relic. The relic shattered, and with it, the curse was broken. The blight that had plagued Cinder lifted, and the land began to heal.   But as the curse dissipated, so too did Shropine's physical form. Her body withered, but her spirit remained strong, merging with the essence of the earth. In that moment, Luthos, the god of divinity, appeared before her. He had watched her journey with great interest and was moved by her selflessness. As a reward for her sacrifice, Luthos granted Shropine godhood, elevating her to the divine realm.

The Goddess of Agriculture

Now, as a goddess, Shropine watches over the lands she once walked as an elf. She is the protector of all growing things, ensuring that the fields are fertile and the forests remain lush. Farmers and druids alike pray to her for bountiful harvests and the health of their crops. Temples and shrines dedicated to Shropine can be found in every corner of Cinder, where offerings of fruits, grains, and flowers are made in her honor.   Though she has ascended to godhood, Shropine remains deeply connected to the earth. She walks among the fields in spirit, her presence felt in the rustling of leaves and the blooming of flowers. Her love for the land and its people endures, a testament to the elf who became a goddess.
