Market Town

Market Town is the largest surface settlement on Port Solaris. As the name implies, it is the economic center, and also serves are the primary entry point and airship dock for denizens of the island. It's a large beachside town with thick forests to the South and the open sea to the North. Market Town houses the ferry dock that sends ships to and from the Triton settlement of Tidus, and a busy commercial district in the heart of the town surrounded by cottage-style homes always touched by the smell of sea salt.   The commercial district is comparatively enormous, made up of resilient stone buildings. Some notable businesses and locations include:
  • Happy Acres General Store, owned and operated by the cheerful dragonborn shopkeeper Drex
  • The Sleepy Siren, a cozy inn with a view of the sea, run by the triton lady Lorelei
  • The Laughing Gull, a popular tavern with a sailor's aesthetic, run by aasimar husband and triton wife Gill and Adrienne, who are definitely not former pirates
  • White Pearl Bakery, famous for Solaran specialties, owned by aasimar couple Malcolm and Ean
  • Market Armoury, a weapons and armour forge, run by aasimar craftsman Cillian and his sons Murph and Vinnie
  • Sea Salt Apothecary, a shop selling potions, supplies and other alchemical goods, kept up by the elder drow woman Cael'dra
  • Solaris Tailor's, a clothing shop offering repairs for all textiles, run by young half-elf sisters Deena and Faith who inherited the shop from their mother
  • The Morning Market, an open-air market by the docks with rotating artisans, farmers and fisherman selling food and practical tools. Only open in the mornings.
The main ferry dock offers affordable service to travelers heading to the Triton Capitol of Tidus, aboard the ship called the Indecision by her captain, a Triton called Jorah Tidusith, and his mostly Triton crew.   The town is walled and guarded against sky pirates by outposted Council Guard, with roads heading west along the beach toward the fishing village of Pike. There are no major roads heading into the green wilderness of the rest of the island, but many trails winding off the main path made by hunters and traders looking to bring back goods from the land. Guides are available for hire ansd often post notices of such in the local inns and taverns.
