Derringer Doubletree
Derringer, or Derry, is an old but spry gnomish man with wild curly white hair and thick glasses that magnify his warm brown eyes. He's the owner and host of The Green Turtle, a modest and affordable but quite hospitable inn for travelers on a budget. He's naturally a very paternal sort who does tend to ramble on a bit if left unchecked, but is quite likeable in a quirky grandfather sort of way. He carries a walking stick that appears to be engineered into some kind of multi-tool that extends his reach, among other things.
Derry is a widow himself, but he has several children who are off in the world making their way. He himself is perfectly content to stay home in Greenport and allow travelers in and out of the nest, so to speak, so he's never bored and never lonely.
