Vilani Rock
The Vilani rock is a large chunk of spice that has been used for seasoning ones food in the beast lands for over three hundred years. It began make its way to the western lands once the treaty between the beast clans and the empire was signed. Harvested by Maulin workers and sold through Maulin merchants, it made it's way west and then north once trade was established.
Very common to find on beast clan tables or dinning halls. The saliran nobles first bought it for themselves before selling amongst the commoners of the city.

It is a rock or chunk of spice that can be shaved off with a metal grater or blade.
Manufacturing process
It grows naturally, in a region of the great savanna. Though the process of mining is far more complicated as it is a soft mineral that can break with to much force. So to get nice chunks it has to be carved off carefully. Once free it is dipped in a special solution of water and herbs before being sent out.
History
Found as large rock shards sticking out of the ground by Maulin Nomads it became a valuable resource for adding flavor to their food and to aid in preserving meat to survive for longer periods.
Significance
It was key to many people’s survival as it helped them make food that didn’t taste right be a little bit more palatable. It also became a symbol of status to the rich and the average person who got enough to buy one. For the traveler it was key to preserve their food.
