Tlakualas

Originating from the Ak'aaran City-states located in the northern Ayoxal region of Mahador, Tlakualas are a simple and much enjoyed dish throughout the region, and while meat skewers aren't a original dish per say, the tropical climate of the region and its local fauna and flora adds a unique flair to them not found anywhere else in Hysal.

History

Tlakuala is a dish that used to be prepared exclusively for members of the Ak'aaran city-states nobility during the early Second Age. They were made with Occomor meat, hard to hunt and expensive to rase, as well as expensive fruits, particularly pineapples. Eventualy, over the course of the later half of the Second Age, tlakualas gradualy began to be consumed by the general public of those cities. In the process however, some ingredients were swapped for cheaper alternatives to make them more accessible. As an example, the Occomor meat, which is very expensive, is most often swapped for other, cheaper options, such as iguana, chicken, or various snake meat, which are also far more common to come across. Meanwhile, the pineapple, which is more expensive thanks to its long growing period, is often swapped for mango or papaya. The original version is really only eaten by richer folks who can afford its price, although it is accessible to a larger population than in the past.

Pineapple, Mango or papayas are cut into cubes/slices. In an alternating patern, the meat and fruits are skewered onto the stick, which is then placed on a grill, or held over a camp fire to cook. Typical tlakualas contains about 10 peices of meat and fruits slices.

I really liked the fact you added alternatives to the ingredients of this dish. This is something that happens a lot in recipes-especially those that are too expensive for most people- and I really appreciate that approach. Also the side-quote was a very cute addition! Good job <3
