"When night falls over the dunes, that's when you better watch out. He especially likes to sneak up on his preys."
-A Mahadorian nomad of the Sand Walker tribes.
The Watcher, better known as Tyr Da'ahl, or "The one who watches/stalks" is a infamous demon located in the Marching dunes region of south-eastern
Mahador.
Description
The Watcher is best described as a tall male figure with a chimeric apearance, blending aspects of a lion and an
Occomor. It is a large spirit, standing on two feet at about 3 metres tall. It has a large spiked tail, just like Occomors, as well as the head of a lion. His reptilian legs and feet allows him to sprint at very high speeds. It also possesses razor sharp teeth and claws, which it uses to easily cut down any pray it catches.
An apex predator
Like many other powerful demons in Hysal, Tyr Da'ahl represents a mortal danger to any humans he crosses. What makes him so dangerous is the way he's able to sneak up on his preys, and that even included
Necromancers. Once found, he is also able to use his great speed to catch and kill them. Because of this, the local sand walker tribes simply avoid his territory.
Failed Hunting Expedition
Numerous attempts were made to hunt and kill this demon, especialy in recent centuries, but all of them have failed so far. In most cases, hunting parties returned with a large portion of their crew dead, missing, or severely wounded. This wasn't helped by the fact that the local tribes refused to help them in any way, for fear of Tyr Da'ahl invading their land and kill their people as revenge.
Mythological Origins
According to local myths, the watcher was originaly a nomad chief, who betrayed the gods of the earth and sun, who then cursed him to live out the rest of his days as a monstrosity. Eventualy, he was either killed, or died of natural causes, yet his resentement against the gods prevented his spirit from moving on, and he would slowly transform into a ghost, and then a demon. It is probably once he reached that final stage that he began to stalk and kills humans.
This is very good! I love what you did with the name ;) I especially liked the origin story. It would be great if in the future we got to learn more things about that nomad chief! Bravo <3
Thank you! ;) Glad you liked the origin story! I definitely plan to expand "Tyr Da'ahl" origin story when i get back to it, since i rushed it a little bit, but i don't know when that's going to be.
