Potion of Magic

"And a fair warning to you all: i don't want to hear aything about this so-called "Potion of Magic" In fact, i'll make anyone i catch spreading that false rumour scrub out all the cauldrons. Understood?"
-A rather strict alchemy teacher
Talks of a legendary potion has been circulating the world's alchemist community in recent years. These controversial rumours, spoken in hush tones in many alchemist guildhalls, speak of a "Potion of Magic", which is supposed to grant any non-mage humans the ability to do elemental magic.

Summary

While the full known list of ingredients is unknown, it is known that one of the potion's required ingredients is blood from an Elemental Mages. In most version of the myth, including this most recent one, the type of elemental mage the blood is taken from determins what type of magic the person consuming the potion will be able to do. Curiously, another known ingredients of the potion is crushed dried mint leaves, which is often added in other consumable alchemist recipes to alieviate an acrid smell or taste.

Historical Basis

Unlike what many people believe, rumours of such a potion is not a recent phenomena. Indeed, many regions of the world had some form or version of this exact myth, some of which date back to the First Age. It is true however, that during the period of terror brough upon by the rise of the cult of Sokral, rumours that they had somehow managed to succesfully recreate the potion became much more widespread, with many in the general public believing it enough to actualy join the cult, hoping to gain magic abilities.   Two reasons may explain why the rumour spread so quickly at the time, and why so many people believed in it. Firstly, the cult had recruited many alchemists within their ranks, which lead credance to their supposed alchemic prowess. The second reason is unfortunaly much darker. The cult was already known at the time to kidnap mages and conduct experiments on them against their will. Some of those yeilded nothing, while others lead to the creation of various anti mage tech, such as the Soulstone. Because of this, may thought that the cult recreating the mythical potion was plausible.   However, no proof of any such potion has ever been found since. That is, until 5 years ago, when an underground hideout of the cult was found in the City of Aksa after it collapsed and caught fire. A mysterious document was found among the wreckage. Since the document was half burned and clearly missing peices, it was only partialy legible. Written in High Esnian, it is a list of ingredients for something that remains unnamed. 2 ingredients mentioned are known, those being Mage blood, and Mint, while three others listed have been kept secret. The total number of ingredient this potion may or nay not have is unknown.

Spread

Since the discovery of the document containing a partial ingredient list was discovered, it has been kept under lock and key at the Alchemist's guildhouse in the City of Aksa, with supposedly only the Guildmaster able to access it. However, this hasn't stopped the myth from spreading again like wildfire, much to the annoyance of teachers and Guildmasters.

Cultural Reception

While some alchemists had unsuccessfuly tried their hands on recreating the potion in the past, most others refuse to even talk about it, especialy nowadays. This is due to the controversy surrounding one of its supposed ingredients, Mage Blood. The fact that the present version of the myth is based on the Cult of Sokral is enough to make most dismiss it out right.
