Maple-nut Cakes
Maple-nut cakes are a delicious dessert recipe that originates from the Kingdom of Heoria, and which can be bought in most bakeries across Eastern Arros.
Manufacturing Process
Step 1: Mixing
In a large bowl, mix the flour, yeast and maple sugar, before adding the melted butter, eggs and either milk or water. After mixing thouroughly, add the maple syrup and crushed nuts before mixing again.Step 2: Pouring
Pour the cake mix into appropriate molds and fill them halfway. Then, add a drizzle of maple syrup on top, and/or a pinch of maple sugar. Add a handfull of crushed nuts to the top.Step 3: Baking
Bake in oven for 20-30 minutes, or until the cakes have fully risen and their tops are of a light brown colour.Step 4: Serving
Remove the cakes from the oven and let them rest for about 10 minutes. Carefuly remove the cakes from their mold and place in a plate. Cut into portions if nessessary before serving.History
It is unknown where the first maple-nut cakes were first baked, but the most common recipe now orginaly came from central Heoria and is about 500 years old, with regional variations being slightly more recent. Some bakers in Naurcia claim the dish comes from Old Naurcia, but culinary experts elsewere reject that premice, since it is known that maple syrup production first started in the Second Age, and was largely spearheaded by Heorian Shapeshifter Clans, who consumed it for presumed health and magical benefits. Nowadays, maple-nuts cakes are widespread throughout eastern Arros, and has become a favorite dish of both the local peasant(If they can afford it) and the nobility.
