Session 33 – Dangers in the Desert

After dealing with a small group of barbarians the caravan continues northward along the road north.

Already, Lady Ba'maiya bint Fali al-Mee, a female halfling aristocrat traveling with the caravan is having a fit over there being raiders while her dutiful bodyguard/servant, Faani ibn Ma'ghyaa al-Dalai, a male dragonborn consoles her and tries to get her to calm down. Sylbella also attempts to calm her, but Sylbella’s own appearance seems to startle the Lady almost as much.

Around midday, you come upon an oasis which presents a chance to have a bit shade and replenish the water supply. But as you approach you see that it occupied by three creatures. As you get closer still, Feebs, atop the lead vardo sees that the three creatures are in fact Gray Thirsters, an undead creature who has the ability to to destroy water supplies!

You jump into action and dispatch the creatures somehow avoiding their nastier abilities to cause rot and decay and only suffer a few claw wounds which Gunkyn cures with mass healing word.

Thankfully, the Gray Thirsters had not yet been able to foul the oasis and the caravan takes a short rest for midday meal.

A few hours later, as you approach another oasis as the sun sets, you go on guard looking for any trouble but thankfully this one is clear and you are able to make camp for the night.

Dawn breaks on the 1st day of Secondus Mensis, which is also the first day of the week and the caravan is rolling again shortly after a quick breakfast.

A couple of hours into the day, however, the caravan is once again set upon by a group of raiders – this time “sand pirates”. A concerted effort by Sylbella, Feebs, and Gunkyn immediately takes out their captain which seems to affect their morale as one runs way after witnessing the captain die after having had Gunkyn get in his head with vicious mockery. Another bandit is wounded by Sylbella’s wolf, Bucky and despite the bandit’s healer casting cure wounds on him, he still tries to escape.

Now to deal with the ones that have decided to stand and fight!
