Habesha Human
Of all the great and ancient kingdoms of the world, the mountainous realm of Habeshiyya is perhaps the most mysterious. A proud, ancient, and insular realm, the Habesha have a history that stretches into distant antiquity. Tracing their descent from an affair between the great Dwarf-King Suleiman and Queen Makeda of Habesha, the royal lineage of Habeshiyya is rumored to possess special powers, and claims to have a unique relationship with the divine. A religiously diverse realm, one can find Shamsari, Hebronim, and even polytheists there, although the nobility and the majority of the population are Helionists, with their church paying homage to the Patriarch of Mizr. Their armies are vast and powerful, with their elite Chewa soldiers feared throughout the world for their skill with the spear and the bow, and their expertise in mountain warfare. It is said also that the Habesha possess a unique power over stone, which they attribute to their dwarfish blood. Like the highlands that they call their own, the Habesha people have endured, and will continue to endure.

History
Habeshiyya established its identity very early. While the early records have many names for it, all the ancient peoples were aware that there was a large and powerful state located in the highlands far to the south of Mizr. Ancient trade links to the north led, at some undetermined point, to a migration of Dwarfs from the Hebron to the Habesha highlands. This connection with the Hebron would permanently shape Habesha identity and self-perception, to the point that all Habesha today view themselves as being essentialy half-Dwarfs, even as they appear to be just as Human as any other.
Perhaps prepared by this Dwarfish migration, in the time of the Elysian empire the followers of Yohannon of Gerasa would bring Helionism to Habeshiyya, and saw widespread adoption of this new creed. When the Habesha King Ezana converted, he declared Helionism the official religion of his kingdom, making Habeshiyya only the second state in the world after Hayastan to do so. However, in a spirit of compassion and in accordance with their ancient customs, he did not attempt to force all his people to adopt the new faith, instead maintaining a policy of religious toleration which endures to this day.
The Habesha have cultivated all the civilized arts. Wizards, Clerics, Paladins, Fighters, and Bards are all quite common in Habeshiyya. Rogues too, the scourge of all civilzations, are not unknown in Habeshiyya, though this should by no means be interpreted to mean that the Habesha are any more inclined to criminality than any other peoples. Habesha Rangers and Barbarians are also noteworthy, as they are tightly tied to the rough and mountainous terrain of their homeland. Habesha does not have a notable tradition of Sorcery, perhaps because of their Dwarfish heritage.
