Absolution Armor

The Absolution Armor, a nightmarish creation forged from thick black steel plates, emanates an aura of terror and dread. Its design is both formidable and oppressive, instilling fear in the hearts of those who behold it. Once donned, either voluntarily or forcibly, this armor becomes an inescapable prison, binding tightly around the wearer's body with an unyielding grip. The armor's dark surface absorbs light, casting an eerie shadow over its wearer, further enhancing the ghastly presence it exudes. The steel plates are meticulously crafted, meticulously fitted together to create a nearly impenetrable barrier. The heavy weight of the armor restricts movement, allowing only minimal mobility of the arms and legs. The wearer becomes a hulking figure, consumed by their encasing prison, unable to escape its clutches.   The Absolution Armor serves as a frightful punishment reserved for those who have committed the gravest of offenses within the armed forces of Yumoa. Deserters and other capital offenders find themselves condemned to this relentless fate. Captured and forced into the armor, they become living statues, their existence defined solely by their duty and suffering.   Within Yumoa's military, the Absolution Armor is seen as a sinister tool to enforce loyalty and discipline. Prisoners sentenced to this harrowing fate are expected to don their eternal prison and undertake suicide missions or hold crucial positions until their final breath. The impenetrable nature of the armor offers a sliver of protection, allowing the condemned to endure enemy attacks, but death is the only way to escape their unending torment. It is a grim reminder that only in death does duty find its ultimate release.   The Battle of Jihyang Pass stands as a defining moment in the history of the Absolution Armor, revealing both its immense strength and the chilling terror it instilled. As the forces of Chu'bao clashed with the penal units of Yumoa, the bridge became a battleground of desperation and pointless wastes of life. For three long days, the penal units, encased in their unyielding Absolution Armor, held the bridge against overwhelming odds. Waves of enemy soldiers crashed against their impenetrable fortress, only to be repelled by the relentless determination of those condemned to wear the armor. The black steel plates became a symbol of defiance and resilience, striking fear into the hearts of the enemy. However, to the dammed souls wearing them, they were not fighting out of resilience or determination, but fear; fear of an agonizing and horrific fate. For those in the armor, wish for nothing more than death.   In the aftermath of the battle, a gruesome scene unfolded. There were no survivors among the forces of Chu'bao, mercilessly cut down by the unyielding penal units. But the wearers of the Absolution Armor, unable to remove their prison, were left behind, abandoned to their fate. Wounded, exhausted, and deprived of sustenance, they were condemned to a slow and agonizing demise. The armor denied them the basic necessities of life, for they could not eat or drink through its thick, unforgiving plates.   From that day forward, the Absolution Armor and the Battle of Jihyang Pass became etched in the annals of infamy. The armor's haunting presence served as a chilling deterrent, ensuring discipline and loyalty among the ranks of Yumoa's armed forces. The knowledge of the penal units' sacrifice and the cruel fate that awaited those who failed to uphold their duty served as a constant reminder of the price of disloyalty and treachery.   To this day, since the war started, you may find these black coffins scattered around abandoned battlefields. The bodies of the condemned still inside. Waiting endlessly for their atonement to come.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Absolution Armor incorporates a macabre locking mechanism that reinforces its inescapable nature. The armor's design encompasses an array of menacing spikes, hooks, and needles meticulously positioned throughout its structure, intended to secure it firmly to the wearer's body. However, the true embodiment of this unyielding bond lies within the sinister latch positioned on the back. Crafted with cruel precision, the latch functions as the ultimate seal of the wearer's fate. Once the Absolution Armor is donned, the latch engages, intertwining with the corresponding apparatus built into the armor itself. With a grim finality, spikes and hooks pierce the flesh, intertwining with the wearer's sinew and bone, while sharp needles penetrate the nerves, ensuring the armor becomes an irremovable extension of their body.   This harrowing locking system leaves no room for escape or relief, permanently binding the wearer to the grotesque contraption. It epitomizes the twisted intent behind the armor, ensuring that those condemned to wear it are condemned for eternity. The spikes, hooks, and needles serve as constant reminders of the wearer's perpetual agony, rendering any attempt to remove the armor an act of excruciating torment.   The locking mechanism of the Absolution Armor transforms the act of donning the armor into a ghastly ritual of imprisonment. The wearer becomes a walking testament to their transgressions, forever trapped within the metal embrace of their punishment. Each spike, hook, and needle symbolizes the unyielding grip of justice, ensuring that the wearer's suffering endures until their last breath.

History

The creation of the Absolution Armor can be attributed to the twisted mind of Raiha Taichi, a notorious figure known as a "skin doctor" in the realm of Yumoa. Her infamy stemmed from her gruesome experiments in undeath and flesh puppetry, delving into the realms of dark magic and macabre sciences. Raiha's twisted expertise led her to design the armor with a chilling purpose in mind: to serve as a tool for capturing prisoners of war.   At the Battle of Jihyang Pass, the Absolution Armor made its horrifying debut. Captured deserters and rebels were subjected to the armor's malevolent grasp, their bodies forcefully encased within its confines. The battle became the proving ground for Raiha's creation, a macabre experiment in the application of her twisted arts. For those unfortunate souls, the battle became a descent into unimaginable horror. The Absolution Armor bound them tightly, the spikes, hooks, and needles puncturing their flesh, as the armor locked in place, denying any hope of escape. Condemned to wear their eternal prison, the captives became grim statues of agony, their movements restricted, and their fate sealed.   In the aftermath of the battle, the captured rebels and deserters met a grim demise. Their bodies were subjected to wounds and exhaustion, sealed within the armor that denied them sustenance. Unable to eat, drink, or find release from their torment, they were left to succumb to their inevitable doom—either through slow starvation, relentless agony, or the mercy of death's embrace.   Following the Battle of Jihyang Pass, the utilization of the Absolution Armor experienced a significant decline due to various factors. Firstly, the cost of production and maintenance proved to be a substantial burden on Yumoa's resources. The intricate design, the cruel locking mechanism, and the specialized craftsmanship required made the armor an expensive endeavor, limiting its widespread deployment. Additionally, there was a notable decline in rebellious acts and desertions within Yumoa's armed forces during that period. The horrifying reputation of the Absolution Armor, coupled with the harrowing consequences witnessed at the Battle of Jihyang Pass, served as an effective deterrent. The mere existence of the armor and the knowledge of its fate were enough to dissuade potential dissenters from challenging the nation's code of loyalty and discipline.   However, a pivotal moment arose when Kaiso Kakaroro, a persuasive figure, managed to convince a group of scholars to embrace martyrdom by donning the Absolution Armor during the Siege of Fengzou. Recognizing the dire situation and the need for a sacrificial act, these scholars selflessly chose to become living embodiments of Yumoa's unwavering resolve. By charging the enemy lines, they provided a critical diversion, enabling Yumoa's forces to safely retreat from the besieged city.   This act of self-sacrifice revived the use of the Absolution Armor, albeit on a smaller scale. It reignited the notion of martyrdom and the power of the armor's symbolism in bolstering Yumoa's morale and resolve. The scholars' ultimate sacrifice became a testament to the lengths individuals were willing to go to preserve their nation, inspiring others and revitalizing the use of the armor in times of desperate need.   In recent years, with dissonant forces growing in strength and Yumoa's manpower depleting rapidly, the employment of the Absolution Armor has experienced a resurgence. The prolonged war and the strain it has placed on the nation's resources and morale have led to a decline in spirits among the populace and military alike. As exhaustion sets in and doubts surface, the armor's presence serves as a chilling reminder of the consequences of faltering loyalty and the necessity of sacrifice in the face of adversity.
