How to Craft 101

Cursed by Knowledge

Raging Flames

"The fire burned a hot orange around the space around him, He pressed the glowing orange Iron into shape, striking it with his hammer as large shards of slag start to fall off the Iron, The metal anvil rang out with a rhythmic tone as he struck the metal forming it into a blade, as he lifted the blade into the air he plunges the blade in oil as it quickly cools the metal, he takes hours out of his day to day life to finish his blade and after seven weeks of work he placed the blades in the hands of his son, he knew perfection takes time but only a true master could make the quality of blade that he had."
-Gift of the Father

Starting your crafting journey

People often think that crafting is simple but it's more complicated than most people know, there are a set of steps that need to be taken in to count before even crafting can even begin, such as gathering metals, planning, and preparing the appropriate crafting Kit.

Knowing your materials

Each material has its own special property that it gives the final project, for example, a project that is primarily made out of steel might have its weight increased but its resistance to damage increases as well. or a project that was completed using primarily magical components may turn the final project into a magical item. With this, it's important to also try different materials in conjunction with each other, to find different effects.

Quality over quantity

Everything in crafting has different qualities, listed below will show the different qualities and benefits that are gained by the different levels of materials. (Note that the Individual Materials gain their own status benefits aside from the quality benefits given.)
Item Quality Roll required to gain quality Quality benefits
Useless 1* Natural -5 (When used to craft)
Horrible 2-5 -2 (When used to craft)
Less Than serviceable 6-10 -1 (When used to craft)
Serviceable 11-15 +0 (When used to craft)
More than serviceable 16-19 +1 (When used to craft)
Perfect 20 +2 (When used to craft)
Masterwork 20* Natural + 10 Or 40 +5 (When used to craft)
Note: The quality of the final project can only go as high as the lowest Item quality used while crafting.

Plan before action

Every project needs a plan before actions should be taken,  you could always forgo making a plan but at some detriment to your project. and even if horrible plans are executed by masters. nothing good can come from it. Listed below are the benefits of different quality plans.

Research and Crafting Kits

All the things that can be crafted must be researched before being constructed. Utilizing research kits and Utilizing crafting kits to finish your own projects. You can find research and crafting kits explained in their own articles under the world encyclopedia.

The world Changes

As the world changes and shifts, something considered to be masterwork may degrade in quality as people find more advanced ways of creating items, and the DM might choose to increase or decrease the difficulty of crafting based on many requirements, and some of those reasons may not be seen by the player.
