Korikia
Korikia
Korikia is the manifestation of the supernatural using gold. This magic can be harvested by humans.
The basics of Korikia
Korikia, as mentioned, comes from gold. Gold has a supernatural influence on objects around it. Korikia can be used by Korikians, people with (partly) golden bones. They are able to command objects and even people. Gold can also be forged.
Korikians
A Korikian is a person who has innate golden bones. His golden bones allow him to use Korikia. For example, he can command non-living objects to walk or make fire burn from his hands. Normally a Korikian can use gold better if he has more gold in his bones. What is true is that the Korikian must pay a price for the magic he uses. You can often see this on his body as grown fingers (gold-fingers), extra long limbs and unhealthy skin.
Koriklads
A Koriklad (originating from the Gemtongue words "Koriki" (gold) and "galade" (smith)) is a Korikian who specializes in working with gold and forging gold. Such a goldsmith can, for example, put gold on weapons and make them burn using special runes. The Koriklad, as most theories assume, goes against the nature of gold, so he has to deal with a lot of Tamilu. As a result, the average Koriklad does not live long and they are rarely found. Many Korikians often do a bit of Korikladen, so that the damage is not directed at a few individuals.
Tamilu
Tamilu (originating from the same Gemtongue word meaning "payback") refers to the innate nature that gold posseses. Gold requires a price for the magic that the Korikian uses. This price starts small compared to the amount of magic you use, but steadily increases with the amount of magic you use. Korikia can collect the Korikian's debt at any time it wishes. The Korikian can also pay off his debt in advance or just after using Korikia by fasting, hurting himself and other ways that negatively affect him. The Korikian just doesn't know how much his debt is or whether he has already paid it off
Etymology
The word Korikia comes from the Gemtongue word "koriki" which means gold. It is often used to indicate all sort of magic, but that is simply not correct. Korikia only refers to magic that uses gold.
