A Clan Stricken

Disbandment

2002
37/9

One of the Dwarven clans is stricken from the records, and exiled from the dwarven lands.

Xalfar was a lawyer in mortal life, part of a dwarven clan that was in charge of the dwarven justice system in the Clandom. After his discovery and embrace of Infernal Energy in 1009, the entire clan took it is a mark of shame. They were also placed under official review: since the Clandom had released an evil on the world, they needed to ensure that more wouldn't follow. For a while, this worked. The clan rebuilt their honor, upheld Dwarven Law, and helped create an unrivaled period of prosperity in the Clandom. Unfortunately, it wasn't to last. On the 1000th anniversary of Xalfar's descent, the then leader of that clan entreatied with the devil for great power. In exchange, he offered alll the souls of his clan. He'd managed to get all of them to sign contracts at one point or another, giving him power of attorney over their souls. Xalfar accepted, and in an instant they were all turned into tieflings.    It took some time to figure out what had occured, but when the Dwarves understood the situation, they banished the clan, and struck their name from the records. Their duties were absorbed by the Rakkai and Oggenheim clans.   Lost, alone, and leaderless (Their former head had run off once he had his powers), the newly minted Tieflings wandered until they found the Obsidian Strip. Its desert qualities spoke to their dwarven past, and the ambient infernal energy spoke to their present. They settled there, and when building their own nation, unsurprisingly based it upon the system that they had been excluded from.
