The First Dragonborn
Balnenet is believed to be the first Dragonborn, who was determined to become a leader to his people. He was created by a green dragon, Buxenor and given the task to sabotage his brother, Xebanon, who was planning on destroying Buxenor's forest. Balnenet, as clever then as he is now, went to buy sleep-inducing materials. He found a village near Xebanon who frequently left piles of meat as an offering to the dragon. Balnenet dosed the meat with his gathered materials, then left for the dragon's nest to await the drugged monster.
When Xebanon returned, he was already tired, and lasted not another eight minutes before dozing off. So strong were the drugs, and so deep was the dragon's sleep, that it did not wake as Balnenet removed the monster's wings and eyes. Balnenet returned to his creator, spoils in hand. At first, Buxenor was appalled at what his creation had wrought. As he thought on it, however, he found that his creation had done exactly as he asked, and thought on what an army of slaves such as this could accomplish.
Balnenet, who was free now that he had completed his task, was deeply worried about what would happen should Buxenor do what he was planning. Balnenet had been created to stop evil, so stop it he did. While Buxenor worked to improve the method he had used to create Balnenet, the dragonborn brought him food under the guise of providing for his creator. In truth, each meal was poisoned, affecting the body but not the mind. When Buxenor had finally refined his ritual, he found he was no longer capable of performing it. After a bout of rage and fear that lasted for two tendays, Buxenor finally requested that Blanenet release him into the sweet release of death. Balnenet obliged. He destroyed the notes and plans for the improved ritual, which left the dragonborn as true slaves to the wills of their creator.
He spent a number of years travelling, and felt something after a few years of travel: loneliness. He tried to shake it, but he was the only member of his race, and while he had found a number of others who he could share with, but none that understood him. He went back to Buxenor's nest, and collected the notes on the original ritual that had created him. He spread the notes among the dragons, and soon saw the birth of a race.
