Origins
There are many spirits in the world. Some are the lingering souls of those who have passed, some of them are fae, and others have origins much stranger. Often, they can exist independantly or choose to bind with a living being. When one of these spirits chooses to bind itself to a mortal, the result is a kalashtar. There are few of them in the world, and with many base races. They all have similar abilities, however, regardless of the type of spirit or the origional race of the mortal.
Regions
Kalashtar can come from anywhere, but they are most plentiful in Grethor, one of the major kingdoms of the Federation of Forested Kingdoms. Grethor has always been ruled by a Kalashtar. Most of the mortals have come from one family: House Tover. The sprit, however, is always the same: Kyryet, the Spirit of Ages. Whoever Kyryet chooses to bond with is the rightful king of Grethor. Having a region where a spirit has a powerful voice in policy has made Grethor one of the best places for spirits to be.
Stereotypes
| Stereotype | Why this Stereotype Exists |
| Kalashtar are not totally in control of their actions. |
While the spirit cleaved to a mortal has some say in the actions of the Kalashtar, they cannot influence the physical body. Even if they were to somehow manage to secure control, their inexperience in dealing with the physical would soon make itself known. |
| The person a Kalashtar was before dies in their creation. |
When a Kalashtar is created, two beings join into one. They can become two separate beings again at some point in the future. A Kalashtar often has access to more information and memories than before, leading to the superstition of identity death. |
| Kalashtar are keepers of ancient secrets. |
While the spirit can share things with the mortal, it is under no obligation to do so, and vice versa. Even if the spirit has ancient knowledge beyond the ken of man, it may choose not to grant that information to its partner. |
