Origins
While the great magority of goblins worship Quetminook, there are some that feel that his largely hands-off and absent-minded approach is unbefitting of a god of his stature. These goblins often turn away not just from him, but from knowledge and structured magic as a whole. Most refer to goblins who do this as feral. Many of these feral goblins went to live in places where the natural energies were strong; for they would turn their back on their god, but not on Athneron's principles. In these places of deep nature, some found themselves changed: larger, with longer limbs, and stronger. Thus the Bugbears were born. Recent research indicates that it may not have been natural energies that changed them, but fae magics.
Regions
The Bugbears were born in the Lindral Forest, but they are most prominent today on the Goldengrass Plains. There, they often act as hired arms in the conflict between the two groups of Halflings.
Stereotypes
| Stereotype | Why this Stereotype Exists |
| Bugbears are loud and brash. |
While they can certainly be this way in their off time, a hunting bugbear can be hard to see coming. They excell in ambush tactics and taking their foes by surprise. |
| Bugbears can drink you under a table. |
This is a well-earned reputation. many of them can take on a dwarf in a head-to head drinking competition and come out the next morning none the worse for wear. Challenge at your own discretion. |
| Bugbears enjoy the strictly regimented life found in the military. |
It isn't the structure that Bugbears live for, but rather the chaos of a battlefield when combat erupts. Living with such structure is simply what many see as a way to thrive in the greatest chaos. |
