Districts of Hruunchash

The Ash Garden

An enormous space of semi-wild parkland to the north of the Temple District in which the animals associated with the Togi beast chiefs (hyenas, leopards, wildebeest, elephants and eagles) are considered sacred and accorded special protection.

The Bazaar

Sandwiched between Plainwall and the Harr Docks, the Bazaar is named after the enormous Central Bazaar that occupies most of the district. There is some space for residential buildings, workshops and warehouses scattered around, but most of it is made up of streets upon streets of semi-permanent market stalls. You can buy just about anything - food, object or information - on the Bazaar's streets.

Crater

The large, ancient crater in the centre of the district provides both its name and a rich, ongoing source of magically-sensitive ore and rock. Crater is the largest hub of industry in the city and is full of mining operations, factories, and all of the warehouses and administrative buildings required to support it. Very few people live in Crater itself, which gives it a lonely, haunted feel at night. The only people found there at that time are those who don't want to be found anywhere else.

Harr Docks

Harr Docks is the city's hub of trade and immigration, with boats coming in and out of the city along the River Harr. The Urdan-owned Southdock is the largest area of the docks, but there are many other private and state-owned docks and warehouses.

Harrshore

The city's largest residential district besides Plainwall, Harrshore is home to most of the city's middle class. There is a mix of housing and apartment-style buildings, with a thriving leisure scene along the shore of the Harr and easy access to management, administrative, service and skilled jobs in Crater and Harr Docks.

Oldway

Oldway is named after the old road running through its centre that used to be the main land route into the city from both Serroch and Charval. As such, it was one of the first developed regions, built on the profits of land freight before air travel supplanted it. The buildings are still large and stately, separated by small parks and serviced by high-end shops and some service businesses. It is now largely home to well-off citizens who can't afford the dizzy heights of the Outer Ring, as well as important government and temple officials who work in the neighbouring Temple District.

The Outer Rings

The Outer Rings are floating residential platforms constructed following the success of Hruunchash Orbital. These airborne structures of metal and stone are tethered to the city by energy anchors and can be reached by footbridges from the station or by air taxis that travel between the rings and the ground. They are home to the largest of Chak Hruun's academic institutes and commercial enterprises developing magic and technology at a breathtaking rate. The floating structures allow for stunning experimental architecture, built both up and down, and any space not used for buildings has been carpeted in lush plant life and vast water features magically engineered to flow in bizarre and wondrous shapes. While the Asharch leads Chak Hruun from the ground, many suspect the real power floats above him.

Plainwall

The city's largest district, which was once bounded by all wall protecting it from the open sub-Tivrast plains to the east, but which has now spilled beyond the old wall to become a sprawling home to many poorer Hruunchash citizens and the thousands of migrants who pass through the city each year. It is the most vibrant and diverse area of the city, with bustling markets and roaring trade opportunities side by side with more dangerous areas under the thumb of the Scarlet Claw.

Temple District

Home to the largest temples in the city and the majority of the Asharch's government buildings, the Temple District is the hub of political power in Hruunchash.
