Dietary Habits of Common Peoples in Hrashchar

Togi

Gnolls are omnivores, with a similar diet to humans, though they require little in the way of vegetables. The vast majority of gnolls eat meat as the majority of their diets, though they pad it out with cheaper carbohydrate-heavy foods, and a few nuts and pulses. Sprawling farms surround every large gnoll settlement, with species of cow and antelope the most common domestic animals.   Tabaxi are carnivorous, though they eat identical meat to most gnolls and thrive in the same population centres. They are also fond of seafood, so larger tabaxi settlements are often found around the coast of Chavash Blue and the Koshtoni Ocean.   Leonin are carnivorous by nature, though some have learned to appreciate the best of carbohydrates and fruit. When it comes to meat, however, they're not fussy, and are known for their voracious appetities.   Tritons are omnivorous, but prefer water-based foods such as fish, kelp and seaweed. The few tritons that live inland will eat most land-based foods, but still prefer to buy in seafood where possible.   Aarakocra are biologically omnivorous, but many of them choose predominantly meat-based or plant-based diets. They do not require any special farming practices, and are generally happy with whatever fare is available in their location.   Loxodons are herbivores with a tree-based diet. They enjoy all parts of a tree: the leaves, roots, bark and fruit. Any loxodon who can afford it grows a handful of trees on their land for regular consumption, while domestic woodland and orchards are farmed across the country to provide food for the communities.   Minotaurs are herbivores with a grass-based diet, though they will eat some grains and gnoll-made carbohydrates on occasion. Hay and fresh grass are easy to come by in most cities, though the best grass apparently comes from the Northern Steppe.   Humans, as in other worlds, humans are biological omnivores, with many choosing specific diets based on their physical requirements and preferences. On Hrashchar, many humans tend towards meat-heavy diets, thanks to its availability in gnoll settlements. Interestingly, insect consumption is also a common cultural marker, as it is an easy way to distinguish human dishes from the other Togi races, none of which eat insects.

Orkrell

Orcs of Koshtonir and Gorokir are omnivorous with a predominantly fish-based diet. There is little in the way of land-based livestock on their island or coastal nations, but both nations do have large chunks of land dedicated to arable farming, especially around larger cities. Growth of vegetables is also common on land, and seaweed, seagrasses and kelp are cultivated alongside fish herds in ocean farms, often in collaboration with Tritons.   Krinniq elves are vegetarians - something they alone among the Orkrell races have retained from their ancestors' customs. They tend to be foragers, though patches of cultivated forest are becoming more common. Nuts, fruits, roots and leaves form the bulk of their diet.

Sennyth

Hobgoblins have similar diets to gnolls and humans, with a combination of meat, fish, grains and vegetables all cultivated on their island home of Avail. Much of the island is domesticated with livestock held in common, so food is plentiful even while dedicated farms are few.   Goblins in the Otovrast mountains are omnivores, though their diet is primary formed from cave fish and the game that they are able to rear and hunt on the mountain slopes. They are also renowned fungi farmers, with a mushroom industry that has customers across the continent and beyond. Trade with Glim Merrene provides a supply of grain and fresh (enough vegetables) to round out their diet.

Dwerrin

All dwerrin share the same basic omnivorous diet. As a collective people they have never really adapted to eating the livestock of this world, though they did bring a couple of domesticated races with them which were similar transformed by their gods to survive. These domestic species - goat-like katun and saurian herbivores called pults - thrive on farms around the Northern Steppe, and some have even been released in wild colonies that seem to live in harmony with Hrashchar's wider ecosystem. The land around Glim Merrene and Lake Evercold is intelligently farmed by employees of the Agriculture Guild, while the lake itself is fished to a limited extent.
