the Animal-venom Parasite

Werewolfology, and Werebearology.

The Wolves and Bears virus is a known venom-based infection that transforms whoever get bitten to a werewolf, or a Werebear. The Infection isn't curable and is a chronic disease.

Transmission & Vectors

Transmission through bites from infected. Transformation only happens if the venom comes in contact with blood.

Causes

If you survive a werewolf, or a werebear attack and got bitten it takes less than a few minutes before it hits the heart, depending on where you got bitten. The Animal-venom causes dizziness, tunnel vision, and tremendous pain in the area you were bitten and all the way to the heart. Once the venom reaches the heart you die if you're lucky. In cases you don't die the first few hours, the venom will adapt in your cells to take over your DNA. Your mind is still intact, but if the venom reaches the brain, which it will eventually, the parasitic venom eats the memory substance, which causes amnesia, and the main character change depending what bit you.

Symptoms

Dizziness, tunnel vision, tremendous pain in bitten area, amnesia.

Treatment

There is no cure for this disease. A bullet is the best cure.

Affected Groups

The reminder group of werewolves is whose in the Noble family of Ulveis, and some of their population. The Werebears are in greater number but maintaining themselves in Bearpoint. The caves are perfect for bears.

Hosts & Carriers

The Werewolf/Werebear is the host of the Parasite and is affected by the parasite. If for example the werewolf sometime should mate with a human, demi-human or another werewolf, the offspring, and the unaffected becomes a werewolf.

Prevention

Do not go to the areas where the werewolves are. Should a werewolf attack you, aim to kill, don't get bitten. Burn a werewolf's body. The parasite is not dead even if the affected is. The same thing goes for werebears.

Epidemiology

The Animal-venom parasite only affects in contact with blood or intercourse. Best way to fight it is to STAY AWAY!

History

The first recorded case of Animal-venom parasite can be found in the Imperial Libary, Science section G, Bookshelf 12, the Books of Illness volume IX. In 133 AF, the doctor May Devota de Aquarium encountered a man bitten by a wolf getting strange symptoms. Her recordings of this particular case were later on given the perfect prognosis for Animal-venom parasite. With the patient attached to a rack, she could follow the transformation with horror, safe from infection.   Before her research, no Eldercrestarian have before lived to tell the tale of werewolves. And no other physician had ever been able to discover the cause of this infection without being infected themselves. Before May Devota it had considered a curse in the name of ignorance.     Luckily this disease has never had a major outbreak thanks to the hunters of Tribol, specialized in hunting wolves and werewolves. The werebears kept themselves lonely and were shyer than Werewolves, therefore it took longer before a werebear showed up. They were not an as big threat as Werewolves.     The sinister experimental doctor Kerb Volo discovered furthermore in 232 AF that the Animal-venom parasite doesn't affect animals. Only humans and demi-humans. The full article of his records is stored in the Imperial Libary's restricted sector. Only a short footnote to May Devota de Aquarium's research confirmed her question if wolves could be infected by this parasite. He sickly also discovered that Animal-venom parasite could spread trou intercourse as well as trou bites, with the help of a paid prostitute. Kerb Volo was sentenced to death for his inhuman experiments and his documents and records locked away instead of burned.   When the Elves came in 250 AF to Eldercrest a doctor became witness to a werewolf attacking an elf. Even thou the Elf were bitten, it seems like it had no effect on the elf. The mystery was recorded in Book of Illness Volume XVII and remained unanswered until the Protégé of Trees of Family act was signed. Elves were not considered a human or demi-human cause of their connection to the trees.   Some scientist suggests that Nymphs, Mermaids, and Half-Elves like the animals would not be affected by the parasite due to their connections to nature. But there is no evidence of this since there are no mermaids in Eldercrest, and the nymphs went extinct. Testing the half-elves if they get affected considers cruel experimentation due to the Protégé of Trees of Family act. Leaving the Scientist only to persume in theory.   In 504 AF it was discovered by Doctor Valentine Friscus that some Werewolves still had their mind intact with no amnesia at all and was able to reason with humans and demi-humans. These werewolves promised to help hunt down other werewolves to eradicate the once only driven by instinct, and more close to the animal than to a human. The reasonable werewolves promised to keep their, from their perspective proud heritage, away from other humans and demi-humans and only breed within their own kind since the disease could spread trou intercourse as well as bites. Later on, the reasonable werewolves discovered some reasonable werebears.

Cultural Reception

Werewolves and werebears are still extremely feared, and other demi-humans, like bonny humans, and cat-humans, who are not affected by any parasite, often be falsely accused of wearing the parasite because of their animal attributes. Werewolves are still considered cursed even with May Devota's, and Kerb Volo's research.
