Mission Report - Aris Investigation
7th of Anarire 1545
At noon, we set off. This report will written by Brother Khelru, and is accompanied by Azaz Arafe, Idorii and Date Palm. By 4pm, we arrived at a Caravanserai. There we took a moment to reset before continuing on. Without any trouble, we arrive at Aftane at 9pm. We were unable to enter the city proper due curfew, but found room for the night at the Old Faithful Inn, in the South East of the outer city.
8th of Anarire 1545
After getting some rest, we are able to set off again at 8am. At noon, as we neared the village of Aris, we noticed large tracks leading from a fresh carcass and heading to the village. We made haste and saw a strange contraption doing battle with an even stranger large reptile. We kept our distance, Idorii warning us the of the creature's strength. She is not familiar with it, but pointed out the damage it was doing to the construct and how we should assist from range.
In doing so the creature was destroyed, but it faded. A summoned creature. Who was the summoner? The construct, named Junk, is badly damaged, but it seemed to putting itself back together. We headed into the town and met twins who own the local inn. They appraised us of the situation and we met with their mayor. The woman is rather injured beyond the scope of what I can do, but resting well to aid her recovery.
We met with a representative of the Crab Folk and arranged to begin investigating in the morning. This gives us time to rest after travel and get the lay of the land.
9th of Anarire 1545
Today we investigated the druid grove. A disgusting creation dedicated to someone who sees themselves as a god, but is anything but one. Covered with markings dedicated to snakes and serpents. Masesian writings carved into the carcasses of animals sacrificed here, sending the life into the land as it also draws from others areas. The surface blooms with life, while below it rots. There is more to discover here, but this is what we got throughout the day. Many wild animals have been spotted drawing closer to the village, but they do not get too close. When we go out to see them, they run off. We will keep watch over night and warned Junk of the danger.
10th of Anarire 1545
There is a large sand worm near the desert. We were hoping it would go away, but it did not. In the fight it swallowed junk and nearly killed myself. However, we were able to endure the battle and kill it as Junk cut his way out. The Acid had a bad effect on the construct but it went about fixing itself. The crabs allowed us to recover today and investigate more tomorrow.
11th of Anarire 1545
Azaz watched over me all night while I recovered. He kept himself busy with his spellbook and was quick to share with me his arcane discoveries that he made overnight. It took many hours of convincing to get him to rest.
While Azaz rested, we went back to the altar and started to clean it up. As we did we discovered the Serpent mosaic underneath. We took our evidence to the leadership of each village and they are taking time to consider it carefully.
12th of Anarire 1545
Today we are showing the leadership of both villages the evidence and are having an open table discussion where both villages are attending as an audience. This is to hopefully reassure some of the crab folk that it was only the druid who meant them harm and not the above ground settlement. By the end of the day things were still very tense but overall progress was made. The anger is still there, but tomorrow the discuss moves from blame to progress forward as a united front to help one another.
13th of Anarire 1545
Another day of discussions and diplomacy. More success is had with resources being offered to support the crab folk with their failing crops. A representative will be sent to Mecas to hire a druid to aid in resorting the ground for crop work. They will hopefully be accompanied by the Watch so previous events can be properly reported. We will go with them to do this so we can leave from Mecas to return to Shoufal. The Crab Folk have agreed to help protect the villages in case the druid comes back to support Junk. A treaty will be signed tomorrow with a feast to celebrate.
14th of Anarire 1545
The feast was wonderful with no issues. In the morning we leave to escort Glim to Mecas to find a druid and the Watch.
15th of Anarire 1545
We escorted Glim to Mecas and helped him to find a trustful Druid and the Watch to escort him back to Aris. They leave in the morning. We will also leave in the morning to go back to Shoufal, via the NW road that heads there directly.
16th of Anarire 1545
We travelled from Mecas on the NW road, however the road isn't maintained and soon disappeared from us. We continued to navigate NW in hopes of finding the road again. We came across a strange camel that could speak. It tried to sell us rice and dates, but could only carry them in it's mouth, so they were a little soggy at best. I tried to convince the camel to come with us, so perhaps it could get a better way of storing it's goods, but it declined the offer sadly. However, he did confirm there were settlements to the NW if we continued on our path.
We continued onwards and came across a lost Aarakocra who was ill from heatstroke. We took him with us and continued until we found the road again and arrived at Sahra al-Hamra. We stayed at the inn that night, also paying for our ill friend.
17th of Anarire 1545
After checking on our new friend, he is recovering and going to stay here as it's on his way to his new location rather then coming with us to Shoufal. We left early that morning and arrived in Shoufal just before the curfew kicks in. We handed in our report.
