Personal history
Sir Osbern Fitzroy is an Eashillian noble in exile, originally from the Duchy of Silrook, his estate was confiscated at the outbreak of the Great War when he defied Duchess Venraine and remained loyal to Emperor Aevar. After serving with distinction in the Battle of Roreslen, Osbern rose through the ranks of the Eashillian army and was chosen as one of the officers sent south to advise and drill Covasian forces in strategies and tactics to use against nomadic enemies such as the Minarten tribes who were ravaging Eastern Covasia at the time.
It was in this manner that he spent the rest of the Great War; sent abroad as an advisor. He became known to every person of importance in the human west, from Emperor Calemir I Néresia to Crown Prince Matias of Covasia, and stood alongside them on the battlefield. Over the course of the war, Osbern acquired an understanding of how the different polities and cultures of Ceres conducted war both on the battlefield and off of it, expanding that understanding with every front he saw.
With the end of the Great War and the signing of the Treaty of Sielle that effectively handed over Eashillia to Ilythiir, Osbern realized that he could not return to the home he had not seen for 37 years until the House of Lasling regained the imperial throne. He considered returning anyway and assisting the struggle, but he was weary of war and had found a new home in Néresia. Osbern had become a friend of Prince Calemir II and been inducted into the Order of Saint Cicerón for his service to the Néresian crown and bravery in the Battle of Lostal.
After making the decision to stay in Néresia and continue acting as an advisor to the now Emperor Calemir II, Osbern chronicled what he had learned by fighting alongside and against every culture and kingdom in Ceres as the book Warfare of Ceres, the most comprehensive analysis of how Ceres conducted war.
