This Ain't the World You Knew...
After saving the world from an invasion of aberrations in Xendrik, the Heroes of the Wayward Pilgrim returned to their home of Khorvaire. They continued keeping the peace and protecting the lands from threats both political and extraplanar for the next year. And then they disappeared and were not seen again. The heroes of the Wayward Pilgrim have now been missing from Ceramet for 15 years.
The Gods Speak
Shortly after the disappearance of Khorvaire’s greatest heroes, the gods once more spoke to the people of Ceramet from beyond the Divine Veil. They had been silent, and all but forgotten since the Age before Ages. Worshippers of the Sovereign Host began losing faith in their pantheon - that religion dwindled, while other religions on Ceramet such as The Silver Flame and the Blood of Vol continued strong. Churches to the new deities were built; in some cases replacing churches of the Sovereign Host.
Living Gate Repaired
After the rift to the astral plane was closed in Xen’drik, aberration threats from the Far Realm continued to cause havoc on the world. After several years and many battles, these threats were seen less and less. Rumor has it that the Shardmind race (new to Ceramet) were successful in bolstering the Living Gate. Though if you ask a Shardmind, they can tell you without hesitation that their Gate is still damaged but no longer destroyed.
Shifting Politics
After the disappearance of the heroes of the airship, the void was felt across Khorvaire. Since Far Realm threats were still abundant in the early days, a council of nations was officially formed to coordinate the efforts of the recent rival nations. The nations, working together, stopped many devastating attacks by the aberrations.
As the threat of the Far Realm dwindled, the tenuous alliance bought by the Council of Khorvaire faltered. But just as the Council was about to be disbanded, the a great green dragon awoke in the Eldeen Reaches and struck at the nation of Aundaire. The nations rallied behind the Council once more, and the well-loved war hero Avina Talandro slew the dragon.
A New Threat Emerges
The Mournland, long a dangerous and looming threat over Khorvaire, finally attacked. The Lord of Blades has been developing new methods for crafting warforged and other mechanized threats (the first since the Treaty of Thronehold), and these forces began skirmishing with the neighboring nations. Their goal is to either subjugate or destroy all life in the land and take their place as the true leaders of Khorvaire.
With the emergence of this newest threat, the four nations of humans chose to form the Khorvairian Empire under their hero, now Sovereign, Avina Talandro. A vote was passed to officially combine the nations of humans (Breland, Aundaire, Thrane, and Karrnath) in a new great Khorvairian Empire and to disband the Council of Khorvaire.
While neighboring Zilargo joined the Khorvairian Empire quickly, most nations wanted to keep their independence. In fact, before the Empire was formed and the Council of Khorvaire was disbanded, many council members spoke out against the formation of the Empire at all.
