The Chain 06: Of livestock and large men

Combat!

  We start off immediately with the players commencing battle with two dire wolves. The Chain had been hired to investigate the deaths of livestock from the local farmers near Fort Zombie! The bones of livestock and wild game are strewn about the ground here. To their surprise, the beasts were being kept by a hill giant who had used them to gather food. He yells at the team for hurting his dogs, and then throws a boulder, clipping several of them.   The battle commences and after being badly damaged the dire wolves attempt to flee, leaving the fighting to their hill giant master. It was a hairy fight, but the skilled officers of the Chain prevailed and returned to Fort Zombie.  

Planning at the Fort

  Back at Fort Zombie, the team reconvenes and begins trying to make a plan for the future. They resupply from the quartermaster at the fort, and decide to take The Larkspur north to Karrlakton. They are pursuing a lead about bandits on the road between Karrlakton and Vedykar, as well as giving Fonta a chance to reconnect with a business associate in the city.
