Fat Rat Day

The Fat Rat Day is a holiday that relates to the Eastern Holidays in the real world. The differences are that it‘s a giant rat that carries the presents and he‘s not hiding them but delivering them from door to door. Someone dressed up as a huge rat would go and knock on the doors of each family to deliver a basket of bread, cheese, salami, eggs, butter, fruits and vegetables. For free! The mayor or the king usually pays for that tradition each year as long as they want to.

History

Since the outbreak of the first spawn of giant and sentient rats from a far away kingdom outside of Centurion and the infiltration of the rat king Roth Rennigan in Hammington, all the Centurians distrusted and hated them, which made the kingdoms agree to a contract to ban the rat folk. But there was a human woman who had an idea to have them all warm up to the rat folk. She first approached one of the bigger ones and talked to him, persuading him to wear a cone hat and a tiebow and carry a big basket full of food from her own coin. As the rat was persuaded to approach a family house, knocking on the door, he reluctantly did so because he was afraid of the reaction. An old lady opened the door and patiently she listened to what the rat had to say. She then appreciated the selfless gift basket and soon word spread around about the nicest rat on Centurion. They called him the Fat Rat!   From this day on the rat folk is still distrusted but tolerated and granted entrance into some villages and cities. However it would take a long time until the rats can be trusted again.

Execution

A volunteer dresses up as a giant rat with a conehat and a bowtie, dragging a cart full of food baskets behind him and delivering the gifts door to door. Then they say: „Greetings, it is I: The Fat Rat! As a gratitude for accepting my kind for what and who we are, I present to you a gift basket.“ and hand the basket over. Before they leave, they say: „Happy Fat Rat Day!“.

Components and tools

A carrier full of food baskets (containing bread, butter, eggs, salami, vegetables and fruits) and a big fat rat costume (not needed when the volunteer is a huge rat already, in that case they need a bowtie and a conehat.)

Participants

The mayor/king pays for that ceremony. Each kingdom/city/town/village leader can decide wether to join in that tradition or not with their coins. The volunteer is always someone who wants to take the role of the Fat Rat. The only condition is that they have a clean/clear crime record.
