Ghoulbite

When a ghoul successfully steals the signature of an individual, severe issues with their natural internal flubbing can arise. Ghoulbite is the phenomenon where wounds inflicted by ghouls may end up healing far more slowly than one would expect. There's no biological component to this, making physical diagnosis of ghoulbite challenging. Celestially speaking, while an imprint is left, most technology can't accurately read Celestial energies to the point that said imprint can be noticed. As a result, it's rather hard to diagnose ghoulbite, and regions where combat with ghouls is relatively common simply assume it unless they explicitly know otherwise. Even then- not all ghouls are mindless devourers. A ghoul disguised as a human could mean instances of ghoulbite where one may have categorically rejected the possibility. This has led to more than one individual bleeding out due to mistreatment. In the south, there's an old urban legend about a ghoul assassin who kills with papercuts- in reality, it's not quite this extreme. In more extreme cases, ghoulbite can act as a Celestial infection, festering within the victim's soul and reflecting said damage onto their body. Such cases are far more deadly, comparable to gangrene.   While being known as ghoulbite, the phenomenon occurs as a result of various parasitic Celestial attack vectors. In the Age of Wonders, vampires are a much more prevalent source of ghoulbite than ghouls themselves.
