Burst Creeper
Magical flora which grows in the southern jungle region.
Stays dormant in a spore-like form until certain levels of ambient magical energies are met. Then, plant matter bursts forth, absorbing these energies. The viny growths remain as an energy storage. These vines are consumed by various herbivores in the region.
Burst creepers pose a serious threat to construction efforts within the region. Spores can remain dormant for decades, and their eruptions are violent enough to crack stone. Creeper spores exist across a wide band of superimposition, storing mass invisibly until time to sprout. Their burst is essentially a superimpositional downslide- this makes it very bad at impacting souls. As a result, living creatures may experience bruising, but nowhere near the amount of force that unliving stone would due to Celestial forces acting as a dampener. Soulless entities like (young) trees are somewhere in between; the creepers can burrow, but won't outright explode the tree.
Another reason why smaller settlements favor tree walls over solid ones. Islands of stability, where larger settlements are built, naturally don't experience such magical turbulence as to activate burst creeper spores in the first place (barring large-scale alchemic accidents or similar).
Three main varities of burst creeper exist in the jungles, which 'burst' in response to different ambient elemental concentrations.
Green burst creepers exist in response to Fire. They photosynthesize after growing, and typically 'climb' upwards towards sunlight. Colors are typically dark shades of green to an unusually reflective orange-gold.
Red burst creepers exist in response to Darkness. They tend to burrow, creating something reminiscent of a fungal network. They then sprout clusters of mushroom-like growths in shade and dark places. Colors vary from red-brown to dark purple. These are sort of 'anti-bioluminescent' in that they create distinct dark patches around them.
Blue burst creepers exist in response to Storms. They burrow the most explosively at the start, producing a distinct electrical crackling sound. During the initial burst phase, blue creepers are heavily charged with Storms-energy, and can easily penetrate stone. Blue creeper vines beneath the ground will start to act as roots, sprouting moss with a uniquely electric blue color. These are mildly bioluminscent.
