Session 8 - Junction Business
General Summary
Morning comes around and Deltair goes about knocking on doors to gather everyone for breakfast. During the evening last night Bryn had sent Gwyl to hide in Wren’s room so he could eavesdrop on her worship to attempt to get a transcription of the infernal she speaks. The plan succeeded… kind of.
Cushions, the retired mimic (frozen in the form of a racously coloured couch) is introduced. He is pure, and good, and demands only sits and scraps.
Everyone congregates for breakfast and they discuss the business of the day, starting with Pascal’s interrogation. They also divvy up the loot from the excursion to Kekra’s Refuge, with Maxima getting the Ring of Hookshot and Tris taking Pascal’s Buffer.
Nira suggests they move quickly to the interrogation (Wren and Del nope out). Bryn attempts to get the kobold to open up with a reasonable overture, which while Pascal begins talking he is unhelpful in the extreme. Marty begins the magic offensive by Suggesting he answer all of our questions – truthfully, leaving nothing out. While Pascal is still struggling to resist answering, biting Nira in the process, Bryn turns up the heat by Hexing him to give him disadvantage on wisdom saves, and then Charming him.
The group learns that Trall is an orc you can only reach through an elaborate dead-drop situation; Pascal doesn’t know him directly. He also doesn’t know anything about contacts in the temple of Chauntea. Tatil interrupts the interrogation to ask why she was kidnapped, and it comes to light that there is a price on her head, and Pascal’s crew simply wished to cash in, as a side venture.
After all avenues of interrogation are exhausted, Pascal writes message for us to go through the dead drop, and we seal it with his sigil. Pascal, Marty, Del, Bryn, Wren deliver Pascal to a local station, where Wren is a known fixture and smooths the prisoner transfer ably.
Meanwhile, Peiskos and Tris see Noodle running after a mystery woman – thinking quickly, they change form into (respectively) a cat and mouse, and frogger-chase him; all they witness is the mystery woman feeding Noodle and saying “see you later.” Then the team returns, they find the druids still in wild shape; Del pets cat-Peiskos at exactly the most horny moment as he shifts back into tiefling form.
While Pascal is being remanded into police custody, Fen travels through the city. After expressing the details of the crisis in the Feymoor Valley, he learns from a big lady minotaur named Hwai that he can meet with a resident expert, Zoric, in three days — but he should shut his trap about closing portals, and not ask too much about her history. When the group reunites at the Brownstone, Bryn (with some assists from Del, and some active interference from Marty) draws some information from Tatil about the price on her head. Her Tabaxi people, religious devotees of the Cat Lord, live on an island and constantly rebuff the undead; it is forbidden to leave, and she is a runaway. They now know there’s a team of people from her homeland set on bringing her home, either by themselves, or by bounty.
Fen explains just a portion of information to the group about his meeting in the Grove, leaving out anything about closing portals. He expresses gratitude that they’re willing to help him, but notes that force of arms won’t help as much as information will, and information is a few days away.
With some time before Wren shifts back to their male half and the information on Feymoor to arrive, the group sets about planning and preparing for the journey over the next day or two.
When they all return from their business and gather at the brownstone, there’s a knock at the door. Del opens it, to reveal a blue skinned, white haired woman – Nosila Oksah – who says she needs help to save her homeland.
((Aaaaand the crowd goes wild))
