Cooperfoot's Riches

Portal 19

Snorri Copperfoot was going to make it big. He always knew it, and when his family gave him a small patch of land in a previously mined out mountain, he knew it was going to be his chance. All he needed to do was find the one vein of ore or cache of gems that all his other ancestors had missed out of, been too drunk to find, and he’d finally make his name. Snorri Copperfoot did not find that vein of ore, or cache of gems. What he did find when he ventured to the useless surface land of his land was a bunch of confused and poorly dressed for the chill weather humans, and a portal that had never been there before.   This is how the Copperfoots came to learn about the Portals. The Clan held their portal secure during the initial fighting. They didn’t take part of it, but they made sure that no one dared turn their warfare through their particular portal. Stories tell of entire armies being wiped out to the last fighter, and the Copperfoots just stood dare ground, ready to fall on anyone who moved towards Portal 19.   When Junction was found, Snorri’s descendants made their move. They offered the deep, abandoned mines as a good place to move all the rubble and debris that needed moved from what was to become Junction, for a small price, of course. Rumor has it the undercity only exists due to times when Copperfoot prices were too high and people would just build on top of sections of the city rather than clear it outright.   Today Cooperfoot’s Riches is a shanty town where everything and everyone that is discarded from the city usually end up in. Under the shanty town though, is the treasure of a city’s history that most thought was just garbage.
