Hermes, the Swift Trickster
There are more stories, often slippery and contradictory, told about Hermes than about all the other lesser gods combined. He travelled the length and breadth of the Earth, visiting every different people and place, famous for his light-hearted jokes and trickery against those who became his fellow deities, as well as being a natural hand at almost everything he tried. After being elevated to godhood by the saviour-titans, he acted as the scout, messenger and sometimes even thief of the gods, moving with incredible speed and stealth, only attacking from unexpected angles. His close counterpart in the dwarven pantheon is Mercurius Initer Praecos Dolon.
Hermes is the patron of travellers, messengers and merchants, as well as people who act in stealth or deceit, such as thieves or spies. He represents the power of the underdog and the folk-hero, whose acts seek to deflate anyone who is too pompous or hubristic, or just those who take themselves too seriously.
Appearance:
Hermes is portrayed as a slight and genial young man in traveller's clothing, often with boots, a cloak and a broad-brimmed hat.
Symbols: The symbols that represent Hermes are as many and varied as the stories told about him. Chief among them are traveller's clothes, a money bag, a herald's staff and a rooster.
Personality: Hermes is the most naturally loquacious of the gods, able to carry a pleasant conversation seemingly without end, delighting in riddles and humorous, though usually gentle, irony. He is said to humiliate the over-proud and favour the downtrodden and exploited.
Game rules:
