Hades Zagreus, the Shadow Abyss

Hades Zagreus was the betrayer-titan who surrendered in the aftermath of the Theagony (battle between the gods) after the destruction of Typhon.  As such, he was punished harshly by the saviour-titans, and being immune to Typhon's corruptive essence, his body was broken and shaped into the physical form of the underworld, where Typhon's energy and the souls of deceased mortals are siphoned from the surface of the Earth.     Hades has mostly lost his ability to act, and is in a constant state of torment in his position beneath the earth.  He is worshipped only as a way of warding off the evils and tortures that afflict the souls of the deceased.  He is also venerated by necromances, demons, devils and other fiends as their ultimate patron and creator.  His close counterpart in the dwarven pantheon is, however, has a beneficent side, Dispater Orcus Nefas, the patron of subterranean wealth like metals, gems and minerals.   Appearance: Hades Zagreus is personified as a skull-faced, black-clad figure similar to the Grim Reaper.  He is otherwise portrayed in his true form: the grim, shadowy caverns of the various underworld realms.

Symbols: Hades is most often symbolised by skulls, shadowy black ghosts or other icons of death.  His form in the underworld has been represented, portrayed and even mapped in a number of different ways, either as shadowy caverns, the bleak rivers of hell, the nine descending layers of hell or a nine-ringed circle centred on Tartarus, where the Queen of Death Persephone sits on her throne.   Personality: Hades is the relentless and inescapable force of death.  He is utterly implacable in carrying out the fated death all mortals must face.   Game rules:
Alignment Cleric Domains Other
Neutral Evil: Hades is the enforcer of the rule of death in the Prime Material Plane.  He does not care about those whose lives he ends. Death Hades' paladins are most commonly seen as Oathbreakers in the service of infernal lords or dark mages, having broken their vows to avoid inevitable death for a longer time.
