Eyl-Thoul

Eyl-Thoul is a large desert to the East of the Tager River. It is sparsely populated at oasis sites, though there is a large city at Garn Bel Pallan and several coastal settlements which act as trade posts and supply points for traders travelling to Aranbar. The sands of the western end are mostly yellow-white or orange, while the sands of the eastern deserts are a striking red colour. The climate is hot most of the year thanks to a trick of geography, drawing a hot dry wind from the tropics across the area and into the Erul Steppe; as a result, the climate is hotter than its geographical position would suggest.   The Thoulian nomads and their camels are seen as uncultured and backwards by most other peoples of Casiphon. They trade their wares, such as dates, incense and spices, across the Tager river at Garn Bel Pallan or at Mabag Pachamel Grith, where the trade is heavily regulated and taxed by the Grithi.   The Red Archive is located at the eastern end of the deserts of Eyl-Thoul, partly hidden under the constantly shifting red sands of the desert. It has been rediscovered and partly explored, first by Rythi adventurers, then by expeditions funded by the Taorminite empire, and most recently by Grithi tiefling mystics with their hired Thoulian bodyguards.   Major Settlements:
