Darphaner Cathain

Darphaners are the inhabitants of the large jungle-dominated island off the coast of the Jungles of Juol.  The inhabitants possess an insular and well-developed culture ruled by several powerful empires.   Darphaners are artistic and curious, renowned explorers and dedicated scholars.  Like other Cathain, they actively prevent visitors from wandering their land.  To the inhabitants of Casiphon, they are the archetypical wise men of legend, who are believed to possess mystical powers and follow a number of monastic philosophical traditions.  Offshoots of these traditions often form the basis of monastical orders in Casiphon.   Real world analogies - pre-modern cultures of South-eastern Asia (Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese)
