Carrado

Carrado is the northernmost dwarven hold, situated in the Silver Hills across overlooking the Anander river plain. When the Taorminite empire stretched its border with the Perakhuosh wasteland to the Anander river, the tough mountain-dwelling Carradine dwarves were called on as front-line warriors in the frontier outposts.   Carrado is one of the oldest dwarven holds, having survived the Breaking of Nations during the Sixth Cycle. The clan hold is famously decorated with dragon skulls, and Carradine dwarves who live in the northern outpost of Niciatane are nicknamed 'dragon slayers'.    Modern wonder: the Carradine Bastions The northern and western borders of the hold, including Niciatane, are fortified with a two-thousand mile long network of walls and fortresses, which takes advantage of natural terrain and contains dozens of garrison settlements. A complex network of pulleys and counterweights open enormous gates, while a system of signal-towers is said to be able to relay a message from one end to the other in less than one hour.     The dwarves who dwell in the northern lowland hills outside the Carradine bastions have to be much more self-reliant, bordering on savage.  It is said that they have even begun to take on some of the battle traits of the monstrous races, tattooing their bodies before hurling themselves into battle in a frenzied rage.
