Ingenuity
Ingenuity is a resource available to players as a reward for good luck and clever plans.
Generating Ingenuity
Any time a player rolls a d20, they also roll a d10. On a 10, one point of Ingenuity in generated. If the d20 is a natural 20, any value on the d10 other than 1 generates a point of Ingenuity. Certain actions or discoveries as part of a case may also generate Ingenuity.
Individual vs Investigation
Ingenuity can be stored in an individual pool by the agent or can be spent to unlock Case File specific features on the Investigation Sheet. You can have a maximum number of Ingenuity saved equal to your proficiency modifier +1. You lose all Ingenuity in your individual pool when you rest by taking time or returning to base.
Uses of Ingenuity
- Use a feature without having to make a focus check
- Maintain focus in response to damage without rolling
- Reduce incoming damage as a reaction by 1d6 or your Con modifier per point spent
- As part of a Bounce Back action, spend 1 to add your Con modifier to the HP regained
- Reroll the damage result from a single attack
- Use 2 points to cause the damage from a critical hit to explode
- Increase the result of a skill check, attack roll, or save by 1d6 per point spent
- Negate 1 Doom generated by another agent
- Increase your initiative score by 1d6 per point spent
- As part of a dust off, spend 1 point to use 1 HD
- Use 2 points to stabilize a creature or agent with a Medical Kit
- Immediately use 1 Ingenuity to unlock the next level of information or gain a mild benefit
- Immediately spend 1 point to lessen the impact of a failed check
- Injuries can be suppressed at GM discretion
