The Mist

Carver City did not get the nickname the City of Mist for no reason. There is always a thin layer of mist that swirls around the ankles of citizen and visitor alike. It fluctuates in density across the city, but never truly goes away. Some say it was caused by a witch's curse while others claim it is the remnant of fog from Horneater Bay. Either way, it gives the entire city a dreamlike quality. Something is always hidden, it's just a question of seeing through enough of the mist to find it. One thing most local Rifts try at one point or another is to leave the city. However, every time they attempt to do so, the mist swirls around them and suddenly it's as though they never left at all. Being a Rift means you get incredible powers, but it also means Carver City is your home. For good.
