Ashmount Prison

Ashmount Prison is the fourth largest prison in the world. Home to the toughest and most evil criminals in Rowsite. It is separated into different blocks and has multiple holding cells surrounding it.

Purpose / Function

Ashmount prison was built near the founding of Rowsite. It was built as a prison but wasn't as large. The prison also acts as a testing facility for dark magic. Testing on inmates is reserved for the most heinous individuals. It's an open secret that this goes on in Ashmount Prison but the learnings are incredibly valuable to the world. This is also the compensation for some of the dark magic users working in Ashmount. In return for their power in keeping Ashmount in control they are given acess to the prisons of Ashmount and fudning from the government to pursue whatever they want to discover.

Alterations

As Rowsite grew bigge, Ashmount grew bigger. Holding cells, different cell blocks, high security magical cells. Dark magic users living on the cusp of morality work in Ashmount prison.

Architecture

Initial structures of Ashmount have long been replaced in favor of more secure stone structures. Large walls keeping the prisons inside, long hallways built to confuse inmates. The prison is also home to a unique structural design built for inmates that are in need of constant watch. The bearing is a spherical building with a center outpost looking out towards all the inmates. It has 5 levels with enough room for 50 guards.

Defenses

Being a prison, a lot of Ashmount's defenses are located inside the prison. Gurads patrol the outside of the prison and the inside is also patrolled constantly. Some parts of the prison are not as heavily fortified as others. Ashmount doesn't just hold the most evil prisoners, but it also holds low level thugs and criminals. Some portions of Ashmount allow prisoners to roam free and have frequent visits. This is usually limited to non violent crimes. Holding cells are used to distribute different prisoners to their correct security levels.
