Upstart rogue Duke Sir Étienne LaForêt is a drunkard and foul-mouthed braggart, but true to his boasts, he has never been defeated in single combat. Unfortunately, his record as a field commander is not as respectable. Étienne is an overgenerous patron of the arts, and surrounds himself with a retinue of voluptuous concubines. He is jealous of the wealth and prestige of the Lion’s Keep, and seeks to raise an army to steal the Lionnar throne, partially (but not very effectively) in coordination with his father Lowan, who prefers a more sensible approach.
