The Calamity

An event caused by the Ack'erat, a device created by the Highborn to usher in an endless night. The device was somewhat successful and plunges the Mortal Realm into a long night that lasts 3 days, ushered in by the two moons (Omenra and Coreosai) eclipsing the sun. This long night is known as the Twilight to those on the Mortal Plane and forever changed the way Mortals live.
