Soultraped Items

Soultraped Items are a specific subcategory of magical items. They are generally extremely powerful weapons or rings that get created when a magic-user forfeits their life and soul in a ritual to channel them into the item.
Soultraped Items have their own personality, based on fragments of their creators, with more powerful magic-users having more of their personality preserved. The personality of the item can evolve just like the personality of a person, with the unused parts slowly eroding, generally leading to items that over time only care about their own capabilities as items.  
  The most famous example of a Soultraped Item is the Hammer of Judgement wielded by Vogrun Steinschild, the founder of the former dwarf kingdom Hammerfort underneath the Protector in the Mountains of Protection and the fabled father of all dwarves.
