The Grey Resonance

The Grey Resonance, often called colloquially as "Catching the Grey" or "The Echoes", is a plague on the continent of Calradia, which has been ravaging populations seemingly at random over the last 20-ish years.   The disease is hallmarked by the greying of the skin and eyes, as well as the loss of feeling in the extremities. Eventually, fingernails fall off, and the individual slowly begins to be paralyzed, while simultaneously coughing up blood. The most ominous of the symptoms is a ringing (not unlike tinnitus) that begins to be heard by the sufferers. Eventually the ringing grows louder and louder as the disease progresses. Eventually those with the disease begin to claim they can hear voices in the ringing, whispering to them horrific things every hour of the day. By this point though, the patient is usually almost paralyzed, and unable to move or respond to the sounds, eventually driving them insane before death.   It is unknown how the disease spreads, as no assessment magical or otherwise has been successful in finding an effective response. In many cases those suffering from the disease a killed quickly and mercifully, before the disease has a chance to take their sanity.
