Teleportation
Teleportation is a risky business in Calradia. Many would prefer to travel the old fashioned way than take the risks of teleportation. Stories abound of those who have been teleported, but never been same again, their minds twisted and warped, or limbs ending up in the wrong places or missing altogether. Even the invention of teleportation circles has done little to make it a well regarded or favored method of travel. In Calradia, teleportation actually moves the teleportee through a separate dimension of existence, where distance can be shortened, then pushing them back out of the dimension when they reach their destination. Little is known of this dimension, other than that it is generally not a place where mortals were meant to ever tread.
Access & Availability
Due to the complexity of the process, and the numerous possible side effects, teleportation is used mostly as a last-ditch or emergency form of travel.
Complexity
Though there are wizards or magic users from most nations who would be able to do it, it is rarely done due to the complexity of the process and the risks of failure. If the magic user makes even a small mistake in their calculations, they could have the teleported person appear far from their intended destination. In addition, there are frequent side-effects of teleportation travel, which have included everything from odd rashes and diseases, madness or insanity, or even simply taking massive amounts of bodily damage. There is no known way to avoid these side effects at this time.
