Summer Camp Prep 2025
Week 1 - Nourishment
1 - Nourishment means a lot to the people of Calonnau Amlhau. Not only do they need to keep up with their own nourishment but the world also demands they take care of the nourishment of the land as well. The magic and nature of Calonnau Amlhau also needs to be allowed nourishment and if the people of Awen take too much from the land or poison it's nourishment in any way, then the land will react and attempt to take back their nourishment. This can be seen most obviously in the northern most part of Awen. In this part of the continent nothing seems to grow, theres no woodland, no farmland, just massies of dead landscapes and buildings made of stone. The people have been made to live solely on what they can fish and what they can create with their magics. On the main parts of Awen there nourishment is typically abundant. Each area has their own ways of taking care of the lands nourishment and in return the land cares for the people. Some lands are more successful than others with their especially good relationship to Awen, where as some are treated less kindly by Awen and the community may suffer because of it.
2 - I pledge to achieve the Gold badge during July 2025 to improve my world Calonnau Amlhau, I make this promise to myself, my reader, the World Anvil community and the world, which is made better by my creative spirit
3. Updated Centre'r Gwaelod will see about others too
Week 2 - Roots
1 - where did the main cultures I'll be focusing on this month begin?
Swyn Coed have a rich history of how their community came to be. 500 hundred years ago their community looked very different, the people who became Swyn Coed were a community of druids who dedicated their lives to to the lands of Calonnau Amlhau. They weren't the largest community of the time but they were the largest collection of druids and their connection to Awen was out matched by no one. However, not all of the people of Awen felt the same about the lands as the people of Swyn Coed and began experimenting with their own magics and even attempting to force Awen's magics to their own will. These people came to be known as the Dinistri and the natural magics of Calonnau Amlhau fought against them. The druids had dedicated their lives to protecting Awen and doing as it wished and as such quickly joined the fight. The Dinistri were much larger than the druids community and their unnatural magics were unlike anything they had fought against before. The war was long and the druids began to worry about their ability to protect the lands. The strongest of them, Taliesin, began devising a plan with the help of the forest he had lived in his entire life. He poured his magic into the trees and asked for their aid in protecting their home. The forest answered him and many of the tree's arose from the ground, pulling their roots out and mophing into a new creatures, new allies to help in the war against the Dinistri. The tide of the war changed quickly but this caused many of the Dinistri to become more desperate in their attempts to destroy the natural order of the world. The battles became more violent, destroying beautiful landscapes and taking lives on all sides. This angered Calonnau more than anything had so far, watching their magics be tainted by the Dinistri had hurt them but watching their trees, their children, raise from their safety and fight in the attempt of protecting their magic's was too much. On the tenth anniversary of the war starting and a year after the tress rose a battle larger than any took place at the edge of the Druids territory. Calonnau Amlhau watched as many of their children died in this battle and their grief accumulated to the point of bursting. As the battle got more violent the earth beneath them began to stir. The magic was intense and as the battle raged the ground raged more and the ground began to rise. This created the mountain range of Arenshedd and permanently separated the Dinistri from the rest of the people of Awen. This sudden ending of the war turned much of Awen on its head and communities had to rebuild in completely new ways. This was seen first and most obviously with the community of Druids. They now had many new allies in the new people of the forest and there were questions on what would happen with the new species. Many went back to the forest, returning to life as a tree in the woods, but others had gotten the taste for life and the Druids were more than happy to provide a home to their allies. This is what started the community of Swyn Coed and 500 years on they stand as the largest and most diverse community of Awen, with the people of the tree's being many of the most important members of the community.
Teyrnas Draig is the busiest and most built up areas on all of Awen. Many people have wondered how Calonnau Amlhau's magic allowed they to create so many structure in one area but it was all due to their unusual circumstances. Dragons are some of the most powerful creatures on all of Calonnau Amlhau and whilst the most violent of them keep to their islands in the current time, that wasn't always the case. A few hundred years ago the Dragons of Calonnau Amlhau believed they could do anything they pleased. They'd fly across continents in the space of hours and they had not regard for the flora or fauna around them. Whilst this typically didn't cause huge amounts of destruction, when dragons fought with each other the devastation was unmatched. This was never shown move obviously than when one of the largest black dragons ever seen decided they needed the beautiful bronze dragon he saw on the coast of Awen, he didn't care that this dragon was already mated with several bronze hatchlings already born and more eggs on the way. He decided he'd do anything to have her and killed her mate and even attempted to kill her children. Her anger was vicious and she fought the black dragon with all her might. The destruction they left in their wake was unmatched. They crushed everything in their wake, leaving fires, rockfalls and floods in their wakes. Villages were wiped out in the fighting and a young magic user knew she had to do something. She had lived near the coast where the bronze dragon lived and had seen the pair of bronze dragons raise their family in the cliffs, after her home was destroyed, she went to the dragons nest in hopes of finding answers. When she saw the corpse of the male bronze dragon and the terrified hatchlings surrounding their unborn siblings she knew the black dragon needed to be stopped. Her magics were still very untrained but she had spent much of her live near the ocean and had always had a connection to the magics of the sea and the storms. She collected all of her magics and began attempting a ritual that has never been preformed since. She connected herself to the magic of Calonnau Amlhau and suddenly the biggest storm ever seen began. the waves were a 100 ft tall and the rain so heavy that no human could see more than a foot in front of them, the winds were faster than any hurricane previously seen, and yet the trees stood still, unharmed. The only ones effected by the wind were the furiously fighting dragons that had no control of their own flight. They were pushed towards the cliffs where the fighting had started and the bronze dragon tried desperately to get towards her nest. This brought the black dragon back towards the hatchlings and the young magic girl. He thought they'd be easy targets, but he was wrong, as he changed direction and attempted to attack the girl and the children a huge bolt of lightning came crashing out of the clouds and struck the dragon down. He crashed to the ground, taking down the few standing trees in the area and stumbled up attempting to get closer to the girl. The bronze dragon refused to see the black dragon hurt any other soul and manage to dive onto the injured dragon and finally finish him off. As the black dragon died the bronze dragon ran towards her children, desperately wanting to check for their safety but she too was injured. Her wing had been torn in the fight and two of the legs were completely unusable and she collapsed under her own weight. The hatchling flew straight to their mother, attempting to help her but with no way to do so. The young magic user looked on sadly and slowly the storm came to a halt as she walked towards the crowd of dragons. The baby dragons were sobbing as they thought they were going to lose both of their parents today but the magic user came in to comfort them, pushing two of them aside she lay her hands of the injured dragons. As she did her eyes and hands glowed with bright blue magics, pulsing through her and into the dragon, healing all her physical wounds. Once healed the glow only dimmed slightly in the eyes of the magic user and the dragon new this girl was something she'd never seen before, she lowered her head to the girl and the foreheads touched, a small golden glow immitted from touch and a bond like no other was created. Due to the destruction of so many lands hundreds, if not thousands of people had been displaced in one night and the girl and the dragon with their new connection knew they needed to do something to help. Together they built Teyrnas Draig, a sanctuary for all to build a life there own way and after 15 years of work the magic user would be crowned the Queen of Teyrnas Draig and her family would continue ruling over the kingdom and keeping up their connections with all dragons but especially those descended from the original bronze dragon
Pentree Muck's settlement began developing many years ago. There has been a dwarven settlement within the mountain towards the south west of what is now Pentree Muck. This community has been within the mountain for as long as anyone can remember and rarely surfaced until the surface demanded their attention. The land surrounding the dwarfs mountain was the main territory of an animal known Moch's or more commonly known as Mucks. These boar like creatures are large, reckless and were incredibly violent. They'd trample anything in their way and could eat through huge spam of woodland in a day, leaving trees ripped up from their roots and thrown across the ground, all greenery removed with only a few bare trunks left standing. Many communities in the nearby areas disliked the Mucks and would hunt them when entering their areas but that meant they surrounded the woodlands of the Dwarven community and began devastating the surrounding areas at speeds that the lands couldn't rejuvenate. This lead to the Mucks and the Dwarf's food supplies to dwindle and the Mucks began invading the Dwarf's caves and mountain in search for new foods. This caused havoc for all within the mountain and the Dwarf's had bloody fights with the Mucks that created devastation. After a few month the Dwarves had exhausted their ideas for how to handle the Mucks and they needed help. Thankfully there was a small community nearby that had built up within the closest woodland left to the mountain. They had managed to perfect their barricades to the Mucks and made it so none were capable of entering their woods, which they had cultivated into their own forest of live. Their community revolved around food and keeping the forest producing endless supplies of food, not just for their community but for the wildlife within their woods too and when they heard of the Dwarfs problems, they knew they needed to help. They caught a distress signal that one of the Dwarfs had managed to send out and began their process of helping the Dwarves and saving the lands surrounding. Whilst many nations may believe the way to deal with the type of reckless threat that the Mucks were would be to move in and destroy as many of them as they could, but this wasn't the way of these people. Their community had learned to live in some what harmony with wildlife, whilst still thriving for themselves and they wondered if perhaps something similar could occur here. They moved into the surrounding lands and mountains to begin their attempt at calming the Mucks and restoring the natural order of things. It took some time but their amazing communication with animals and even their own wildlife working with them they managed to begin domesticating some of the Mucks. These domesticated Mucks were able to work against those of a more wild nature and slowly but surely order was restored and the Dwarfs had their mountain back. Despite the Mucks no longer being within the mountain the people new that if they were to leave them again, it wouldn't be long for something similar to happened again. So instead one of the largest families decided to dedicated their lives to the Much and the lands they had destroyed. This created Pentree Muck, starting as just one farm house and a family on a mission, they created a thriving farming community that would one day feed millions of people around the continent. This family did what no one thought possible, not only protecting Awen from its own chaotic wildlife, but also being the first outsiders to integrate themselves into a Dwarven community, with the help of a love story or two.
2 - I'm very new to world anvil so I hadn't done any personalisation to the home screen yet, in fact I hadn't even clicked on it! It looked a mess and this assignment got me looking into so many different things. I've now chosen a theme, organised some things and added my own pictures to help make it my own. It's help a lot but there's a lot more to do for it as well, given my world is only a few weeks old and this is a whole new system to work out I think what we've managed is enough for now. Definitely want to keep coming back to the home page and updating as I learn more though.
3 - so the earliest notes we have written are all to do with this world and literally come from 3 weeks ago so I don't really want to break them down. If anything I'd like to compare it to how during my teens my world building could only take place in my head. I felt too insecure to write anything down but I'd spend hours in my head building different worlds and planning stories in my head instead of writing them down. I think my dyslexia and mental health issues both made it incredibly difficult to feel confident enough to write anything down but it also meant I had a huge amount of imagination and mental creativity space that needed to be used. It allowed me to cope and filled the many hours we spent awake due to our insomnia. We made a lot of mistakes with our world and definitely felt the need to include far too much of other people's creations instead of being inspired by them. Something what was good was how deep each characters passions went and I really love how much depth even small characters had and I hope to include that in my current writing.
Week 3 - Metamorphosis
1 - What transformations and adaptations have the people in your world gone through? What changes are going on right now… and who is trying to stop them?
Metamorphosis is a common occurrence in my world. As spoken about with the Swyn Coed nature and magic can morph one thing into another, like the trees into a new species. The people of the trees not only morphed from the trees of the forest into people but also when the so chose, they can go back through the process of metamorphosis and join the trees in the forest once again. This is process is incredibly important to the people of Swyn Coed and trees of past ancestors are considered a part of the family and even become the home for the family to continue living and growing within.
The most recent form of metamorphosis that has happened within Awen is seen with in Abertan. Abertan is a huge mountain range with two active volcano's, that seems to be causing the area to be in a constant state of metamorphosis currently. A few years ago the land and people who lived in what is now known as Abertan were very different. The landscape was filled with bodies of water and beautiful marshes, but after a freak accident Awen's magic rebelled and caused two mountains to erupt into massive active volcanos that take over the land today. In this destruction new life has been created and the lava seems to have gone through it's own form of metamorphosis and created multiple different types of creatures. Many are unhappy with the developments happening within Abertan and there has been a group forming within Teyrnas Draig in the hopes of stopping any future development of the community within Abertan.
2 - new inspiration
3 - community. Seeing all the different worlds that I did really showed what we can do with our world and with world anvil. The community has some amazing writers and I was barely even able to take in their writing because I was oooooing over their fancy looking sites. There's definitely so much talent here and I hope to keep learning from the whole community. I couldn't find the like button which is annoying cause so many deserved likes but I'm sure we'll find it before summer camp is over.
Week 4 - Tomorrow
1 - Think about current events that will have an impact the on the future. Who is working to create a specific kind of future?
3 - Who or what will help you achieve your goal? What will your sharing strategy be during Summer Camp?
