The Empress

Pearlescent child of light Shi-Sue Hua-Lun

The Empress, Pearlescent Child of Light, is the obscure ruler of the Tsa Quang people and resides in her Cloud Dragon Palace in Shin Tseju Sogoke.

The identity and the worldly name of the Empress is unknown and it is rumored that she might indeed be immortal. This although can neither be verified nor denied as the Empress is always wearing a pearlescent mask as she sits, unmoving and cross legged, in her audience chambers. She never speaks directly to anyone but to her advisor, The Green Pheasant, Voice of the Empress. Should the Empress leave her palace, for example to celebrate the annual blossom festival, she is carried in a splendid, rose-coloured laquered palanquin, her feet never touching the ground. One could get the impression that the Empress might just be an actual puppet and not a person, but every so often she can be seen slightly inclining her head when talking to the Green Pheasant and the faintest whisper can be heard on the air, soft as the most precious silk on unblemished skin. It is believed that the Empress comes from a long line of monarchial rulers, reaching back to a time even before The Fall.
