Hieronymus of Veridium is a secluded scribe with an isolated but often sardonic aura. His most notorious creation, "The Unknown," stands as a forbidden testament to his penchant for exploring the shadows of the forbidden. The enigma surrounding him adds an intriguing layer to the towers of Veridium, where whispers of his existence echo through the corridors like the pages of his forbidden tales.  

Appearance

When Hieronymus ventures beyond the towers of Veridium he conceals his identity with a hood and a walking stick. This deliberate effort to hide his face suggests a cautious avoidance of recognition, hinting at a desire to maintain anonymity and distance from the consequences tied to his forbidden literary creations.  

Personality

Hieronymus is an enigmatic figure known for his reclusive nature and introspective demeanor. His solitary existence has nurtured a deep well of contemplation making him both mysterious and reserved. Despite the isolation those who have encountered him speak of a sharp intellect and a subtle sardonic wit that occasionally peeks through the layers of solitude.  

Occupation

Hieronymus serves as a self appointed High Scribe of the towers of Veridium, dedicated to the meticulous art of transcription and documentation. His chosen profession has allowed him to delve into the vast repository of knowledge within the city's libraries, contributing to his wealth of information and perspectives. The scribes of Rainegate long petitioned Hieronymus to allow others to train at his island seeking knowledge that may not have been available anywhere else, As such after many long years it was decreed that the towers of Veridium serve as the official training ground and study for those who wish to delve deeper into the lore of the world, Of course with the exception of that which is deemed forbidden by the crown.  

Age

The true age of Hieronymus remains a perplexing mystery. Whispers among the denizens of Veridium suggest that he has existed for generations, defying the natural course of time. His longevity however remains unconfirmed adding an air of uncertainty to his already elusive persona. Some have often theorised that the name Hieronymous has been passed down from High Scribe to Apprentice, But such practice has never been confirmed.  

Notable Works

  Hieronymus authored "The Unknown," a forbidden tome of short stories that delves into the realms of the mysterious and the forbidden. The kingdom deemed the content of the book subversive and promptly banned its distribution. Reading "The Unknown" as well as other works like it is considered a crime punishable by execution, leading to an air of trepidation surrounding the mere possession of the clandestine stories. Hieronymus was allowed to keep these works within his private stores as long as it's contents were not publicly displayed.
