Sea of Dreams

These salt flats are pure white for much of the year, creating a harsh glare that can cause temporary blindness in those trying to cross during the daytime. But the salted ground seems to suck the very moisture from the bodies of the living, creating a dangerous passage even by night. And the true danger of the Sea comes when the white dust is kicked up by desert winds, which can cause mild hallucinations. For brief periods, just after a rainstorm, a thin layer of water rests on the surface of the flats and creates a perfect mirror of the sky.
