Journey to the Mountain's Throat II Report

Waking up, the Party discovered that the mysterious storm had finally passed, and the skies were turning a bright, sunny blue again. Brok-Bjorn reported no issues overnight, and the group made ready to set off once more. Once again, Mireme drove the cart with Gaya navigating, and Esme scouted ahead through Zephyr's eyes. They saw nothing of interest other than a few rugged farms, although Straadmere did find a few tracks left by Worgs, a number of days old. But it looked like another pleasant day of travel, at least until an arrow zipped out from behind a rock and struck Brok-Bjorn below the chin.   The Party were ambushed by a large group of goblins and bugbears. The goblins surprised the group, and managed to get up close and personal pretty quickly, dealing some heavy damage early on, although The Party used the height of the cart to their advantage. Brok-Bjorn weathered a great many blows, taking on Bugbears and Goblins alike. He was knocked unconscious a number of times, But Mireme and Levi were on hand to revive him. Morthran held his own, lashing out with twin daggers and lightning blasts, but he too was rendered unconscious before being brought back to his feet. Esme and Levi provided support from the cart's back, while Straadmere took on a number of goblins and, importantly, dispatched a magic wielder. Mireme healed where she could, and protected Brok-Bjorn with shield of faith but also managed to unleash a dangerous Scorching Ray. Gaya did not have a good fight, and ended it heavily wounded.   Although things looked dicey early on, The Party managed to turn it around through some clever plays and dumb luck. They ensured no Goblin was left alive, taking out the final runner with two crossbow bolts to the back as he fled. The ambush was defeated, and the Party could continue onward. Or at least they could, had one of the Goblins not killed their only horse, leaving them with a cart full of valuable supplies and no way to move them...
