Description

The Sky Temple Ruins lie buried beneath layers of permafrost and drifting snow atop a perilous ridge. Towering marble spires, shattered altars, and levitating rune-etched stones mark the shattered remnants of a once-glorious celestial sanctum. The temple’s design defies architectural norms — some stones float as if untouched by gravity.

Mythical Origins

The temple is believed to have been constructed by the Starlit Ordain, a lost civilization devoted to communion with the Celestial Architects. It was once said to be a place where divine emissaries descended during the lunar convergence. The temple was abandoned — or destroyed — during the final arc of the Eclipse Epoch.

Magical Phenomena

  • The air is heavy with ambient magic.
  • Time feels distorted; travelers report missing hours or gaining prophetic visions.
  • Ritual circles still pulse faintly beneath the snow, especially during moonlit nights.
  • Stars overhead appear unusually bright, and shooting stars often cross the sky directly above the site.

Known Hazards

  • Sudden magical storms
  • Spontaneous gravity shifts
  • Haunting whispers that lead travelers astray
  • Arcane ghosts of former priests and scholars
  • Elemental guardians frozen in stasis

Secrets and Theories

  • Some scholars believe the ruins contain a sealed planar gate to the Outer Planes.
  • Fragments of the Starheart Medallion — a rumored key to the gate — are said to be scattered nearby.
  • One legend suggests the temple fell not from war, but from betrayal — a member of the Ordain offering its secrets to the Voidbane.

Current Expeditions

Only a few expeditions have reached the ruins in recent centuries. Most do not return. The Celestial Concord of Chaemyar has posted a bounty for any confirmed relics retrieved from the temple’s inner sanctum.
