Overview

Nanites are microscopic bio‑synthetic machines engineered to interact directly with biological systems and adaptive materials. While most famously integrated into K'laisian biosuits, nanites are foundational to military, medical, and covert operations, as well as civilian sectors.

Unlike reactive medical systems, nanites operate continuously, assessing, adapting, and intervening in real time according to pre‑authorized parameters. Their effectiveness, however, remains species-dependent, functioning optimally only within full-blooded native K'laisians (at least until Scales of Injustice ).

They are a constant part of K'laisian life, used daily within the medical community. Amongst the military, their uses are more restricted. Though items can be purchased if one knows where and how to do so.

General Applications

Nanites are versatile, serving multiple domains:

1. Personal Augmentation and Protection

Nanites enhance a being’s abilities while defending against harm, primarily in military, paramilitary, and law enforcement contexts. Functions include:

• Physiological Optimization: Maintaining peak strength, endurance, reflexes, and overall physical efficiency (species-dependent).
• Injury Repair: Accelerating healing, repairing old wounds, and preventing fatigue from compromising performance.
• Metabolic Regulation: Controlling energy use, hydration, and fat distribution to maximize output.
• Sensory Enhancement: Minor improvements to vision, hearing, or tactile sensitivity via real-time biomonitoring.

All standard military, paramilitary, and law enforcement biosuits are equipped with nanites. They:

• Enhance or protect physiological performance (species-dependent)

Experimental suits, such as those issued to Violetta Cq’linns and Malik Addelia, allow nanites to function at full capacity in non-native hosts—a rare and classified breakthrough.

Emergency Nanite Injection

When survival is impossible through external means, nanites may be directly injected:

• Form a self-sustaining symbiosis with the host
• Integrate deeply into biological systems
• Make removal dangerous, prolonged, and painful

Extraction is considered a last-resort procedure.

Biosuit Overview

Biosuits are advanced, full-body suits designed to protect, support, and enhance the wearer’s physiology. Woven from adaptive alloys and bio-synthetic fibers, they provide environmental protection, physical reinforcement, and integrated life-support systems.

Central to every biosuit is a network of nanites, microscopic machines that monitor the wearer’s biological and psychological condition, repair injuries, regulate metabolism, and maintain peak physical function.

Functionality

• Protection: Shields against environmental hazards, toxins, and minor ballistic impacts.
• Support: Augments strength, flexibility, and endurance within species-specific limits.
• Diagnostics: Continuous monitoring of vital signs, trauma, and stress.
• Performance Optimization: In military and paramilitary suits, nanites actively enhance bodily efficiency, accelerate recovery, and maintain peak condition.

Species Compatibility

• Full-Blooded K'laisians: Nanites provide full enhancement, healing, and performance optimization. Suits maintain peak physical condition, accelerate recovery, and repair minor injuries without limitation.
• Humans: Suits issued to humans are only slightly less capable than those used by full-blooded K'laisians. They monitor, cleanse, and repair the body as needed, maintaining resilience and aiding recovery, though not to the same extreme levels as native suits.
• Mixed-Heritage Beings: Standard suits for most mixed-heritage individuals offer only basic life-saving protection. The enhanced human/military suits remain considerably more capable than typical suits used by mixed-heritage civilians, but still do not reach the peak optimization of native K'laisians.

Biosuits for those who are human and of mixed heritage are introduced in Scales of Injustice and are considered experimental. Violetta & Malik are two of a few who are given the suits as a sort of experiment, but also to aid them both in their personal lives. Those biosuits perform at the same level as those used by full-blood K'laisians.

Deployment

Biosuits are issued primarily to military, paramilitary, and law enforcement personnel. Civilian use is limited due to nanite performance restrictions and cost. Experimental suits for non-native wearers are rare, tightly controlled, and often classified.

Reproductive Risks (Non-Natives)

For human and mixed-heritage females, nanite injection may result in:

• Permanent sterility
• Termination of pregnancy if the fetus is later identified as a foreign threat

Possible outcomes include miscarriage, bodily reabsorption, or direct dismantling of fetal tissue by nanites. These risks make emergency injections a measure of last resort.
